I have a 2006, 330I. I replaced the battery, then used INPA to check the battery setting, and it was set to 91 amp hours. The new battery is only 80 amp hours and is an AGM, so I used ECSEXPER to read the CAS module settings, then used ECS dummy to change the battery from a 90 Ah to 80 Ah AGM, used ECSEXPER to write the new CAS settings, read them back again and verified they were 80ah_agm, and finally went back to INPA and read the status again. INPA still read 91Ah. Why?

You changed the VO? You need to default code the relevant module(s) after changing VO, in order to propagate the change(s).
Also the VO is stored in 2 separate modules, so you need to update both of them in order to avoid confusion or future mess-ups. |

I don’t think I change the VO, I don’t even know for sure what that would be. I changed the type of battery in one place, the CAM module I think it was. I changed it from 90 amp hour regular to 80 amp hour AGM, and I told INPA that I had change the battery. I expected the battery amp hour value shown in INPA in the power management module to change from 91 to 80 but it didn’t.

The VO is the Vehicle Order, and contains a list of all the option codes which define the spec and equipment of the car. It is stored in the FRM and CAS modules, for redundancy.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the DME/DDE is the module which actually implements the battery capacity setting. You could set the AH in the DME, and that would have the desired effect, but if for some reason the DME was default coded, it would revert to the value stored in the VO. If you are only updating the VO (in CAS or FRM or both), that change will not be seen in the DME until it's been default coded. I suggest you find step-by-step instructions on how to do it - there are plenty available online. |

Thanks, so I’d better revisit it because I may not have it right. I DID follow about three different You Tube videos about it.
