In the process right now.
Going to install it in 2-3 months time (already have the manifold). Tested out the DISA actuators and they are working when connected. |

procedure should be pretty much the same. Except the 328i doesn't have the oil separator (softball sized thing under the manifold on the 325i/330i) - it's built into the valve cover on the 328i. The 328i PCV hose appears like it still attaches to the same points on the 330i manifold tho, so it should be a direct swap if you reuse the 328i hose.

I've started to think that the gains aren't worth it on a 328.

Installed the manifold today on my 328. Install took about 4 hours and really wasn't complicated.
Initial impression was positive. Noticed a harder pull in the low and mid rpm. As of now I don't have a tune installed with this. I also reset my throttle adaptations and have not had any issues with lag or flat spots. I am going to be getting the AA tune (hopefully stage 2). |

Umm i wouldn't say minimal torque increase. I definately noticed more pull in the car after doing the throttle reset. Enough to notice something. I can only imagine how it would feel with the AA tune stage 2. I prefer not to disconnect the disa, as they will be in the open state when going for peak hp. I got mines used and so it was definately worth the money. I also enjoy DIY and loved working on this project along with another member( thanks pho_e92). I would set aside 4-5 hrs for this though. But if you don't want to be bothered installing it, then getting someone to do it for you would be better. |

Thanks desi, I will be doing it myself too. Probably in the spring though, don't need the power now, especially with the crappy hankook winters I'm on. Have you considered a local tune instead of AA? I plan on running the custom tune on RMP's two e90 race cars which both went through the manifold conversion too. MarkD can do a custom tune for you too. I think the only local shop to get an AA tune done is at Bimmersport. Is that where you plan on getting it done? Or shipping the ecu out?

All I can say is after I did the 3-stage on my 328i. It was amazing. I have the Power Box to go with it and they work great together. I have not power lose through all gears. I'm not looking into a custom tune until I get a set of headers. Plus it seems like there is a lot of tunes coming out. You have OE tuning, Eurocharged tune, AA tune. ESS tune. There is a lot of companies coming out with tunes. So I would do some research and see who's going to give you the updates with future mods.

My plan was to go to bimmersport for the AA tune. I was also looking into doing the custom tuning on the dyno at neetronics but I want a tune that does more adjustments rather than the typical timing and afr. I looked into MarkD tuning but I am not interested at all. |

Just about to install mine around spring time. Does it throw any codes?

The swap in the 328 is actually easier than 325. The biggest PITA is removing the conenctor box below the manifold. When you get to this part, it is best to just remove the bracket it is installed on (rather than trying to pry the box off). Use a smal ratchet with a torx bit on the end and you will be good. I ended up breaking the tabs on that box (still stong enough to hold). Other than that, it is straight forward. |

I wouldn't say 25-30+ foot lbs (after tune) is minimal (on a 325i anyway). There were very good gains in the low end even before the tune, makes the car easier to drive at low speeds and coming off stops. If you remove the actuators, you'd just kill all the low and midrange power, and only get the top end gains, so I don't know why anyone would do that. The 3 stage manifold works on resonance properties of the different chamber sizes, removing the actuators won't allow more airflow, it just makes the manifold have 1 resonant frequency instead of 3. |

I don't think it will be a problem on the track. I will be trying it out this summer. |
