Transmission malfunction light came on twice in snow
Was driving in some bad weather yesterday and almost got stuck in semi-deep snow twice. While getting stuck, I got the "transmission malfunction" message twice saying that speed/gearing would be limited and to go to dealer ASAP. Turning off the car cleared it and it hasn't come back since. The car shifts fine in all gears and I drove at highway speeds without a problem. A CEL came on when these lights came on and has not gone away, I will be getting it scanned tomorrow.
Any idea what might cause this? Was it an overheating from having to get out of the snow? The kicker is that it's a new transmission with only about 6,000 miles on it. I had the old one replaced under warranty for rough shifting.

CEL cleared, so I guess no scanning. Any thoughts why this happened? What trips this "transmission malfunction" light to come on?

Get it scanned, the CEL codes are still stores even if the light is off.
