MHD stage 1 is not enough
Hey guys so i got a 2012 e92 335i xDrive and last week i had some boltons put on: catless dps, intake, upgraded chargpipe and i flashed it for mhd stage 1 91 OCT. Car sounds intoxicating with all the turbo noise and burbles with the exhaust set up i have however i’m not over the moon with the power increase it does feel a little more alive but realistically theres no “wow” factor. I’m convinced my expectations were a little too high for a basic stage 1 91 oct tune but still i thought id get more grunt from the car. So I plan flashing it to MHD stage 2 however my concern is im on a stock intercooler will that be okay? Ive had plenty of my buddies and tuner shops i called around saying it’ll be fine running MHD stage 2 93 OCT without upgraded ic but would need one for stage 2+.
Thought i’d get one last opinion on here and if anyones running stage 2 on their n55 with stock ic. Its summer so pretty hot where i live but regardless I don’t really push the car all the time just some days/nights with some buddies. |

To avoid timing corrections, I would get an Intercooler. I’m not sure about with mhd but with the old Cobb tunes, stage 2+ was an enormous step up from stage 2.

Stage 2 is made for a car with catless down pipes and stock i.c., so no harm in running it. Definitely don't run stage 2+ with a stock i.c. unless it is in colder weather

Just get an intercooler....The ARM one isn't much and it's straight bolt on. Easy Peezy.
What boost are you hitting? Stage one is 13-15 psi. I do agree though stage one is nothing to go crazy over. Even 2 plus on the 91 oct tune is fun but not amazing. But this all depends on your opinion. |

Update: flashed to mhd stage 2 93 OCT, and oh yeah this is what i was looking for i can definitely feel the difference in torque and overall power still nothing crazy but definitely much better than stage 1. I will do an intercooler eventually but for now I don’t really push the car much at all aside from a pull here and there but super fun and my exhaust sounds like godzilla lol i love it

You should really replace the intercooler. The stock one is tiny, flimsy, and junk.
