Logic 7 Review

Ok, many people have asked about this, so here goes. Keep in mind this is my opinion.

I have Logic 7 and i think its the best stock radio i've ever heard, once you setup the equalizer that is. The subs under the front seats were a great idea, the bass is really smooth on every from Hip Hop to Classis Jazz.

I have used the Sirius Satellite Radio, regular CDs and my iPOD, and here is what i have found:

CDs sound the absolute best. Crisp, Clear and sound right.

Satelitte Radio sound quality has been disappointing; i thought since it was a digital feed it would be great, but it sounds a little blurry. The best way i can explain it is it sounds similar to what your old portable CD player would be connected via the Tape Player in your car.

The iPOD has the same issue like the SAT radio; a bit muffled, but that's just me. My wife couldn't tell the difference. I also noticed, that with the iPOD, i had to turn up the volume to 75% so that all sound sources would be at the same volume.

I am curious to know what everyone else's opinion on this are.

Nathan

I think the Logic 7 is fantastic! I agree the CD sounds the best, however, Sat and MP3 (I have a Creative Nomad) player seem fine to me. One thing that does annoy me is the Sat radio cutting out from time to time. This is my first experience with it and, I wasn't aware that it does this. It could be my area in CT as, there tends to be a lot of tree cover....not sure what the cause is. It's only periodically and lasts only a second or two but, it can be annoying when I'm listening to NFL Radio (as an example) and someone is discussing something if interest. I too have to crank my MP3 player up to keep the sound even.

Unusual for me, I bought the new 330 on the (more-or-less) spur of the moment. Normally, I would have researched every aspect of this car before purchase (the drive sealed the deal for me) - including the stereo.

So, I drove the car for 2 weeks before even realizing that the Logic 7 was suppose to be something special. So yes, I've grown to appreciate it, but it didn't exactly "wow" me like the DVD-A system in the Acura TL. Now that was impressive.

I have logic 7 and think its ok, I was more impressed by the stock radio in the 2005 and 2006 Audi A4.

Ok good, i'm not going crazy then. I don't have any blips with the SAT Radio, i park in the garage with 4 floors above me, and still get a feed, which blows my mind.

I am really hoping either Dension or BMW/Apple will create an iPOD integration which will use a better quality sound source than the headphone jack port.

Does anyone have any reviews of the hifi loudspeaker system??? (Not logic7)

It's the 10 speaker system, cheaper than logic7(which is 13 speakers)

When using an iPod or other MP3 player through the AUX IN port, remember to turn up the 'Aux Volume' on the head unit. This is different to the general volume control on the stereo. It was set on minimum when I got the car and the Aux input sounded a lot quieter than CDs did. Because I had to turn up the stereo louder to compensate for this, it did not sound as good a quality as a CD. However, since I found the 'Aux Volume', it is now on a par with the CD quality in my opinion (although I do use a very thick, quality connection cable connected through the docking port).

I find the sat reception does cut out briefly from time to time,

sirius's signal isn't as strong as XM, but I find the programming to be far superior, especially when stern comes over in january

"Aux Volume"? Are you referring to the volume on the MP3 player or, is there a separate internal volume in the IDrive menu somewhere? Thanks.

I too am impressed with the Logic 7 when listening to music only though. When I listen to Fox news or CNN for example, it sounds like they place a microphone on a t.v. set to get the feed. It sounds bad. I used to have XM on a Ford Ranger sound system and the talk stations sounded normal. I would even say it sounds like AM radio.

I've adjusted the settings and the equalizer, turned off Logic 7 and it still sounds bad. Is it just how the feed from Sirius is?

I dont have iDrive so I can only tell you how to do it on the Professional head unit - when you select the Aux input on the system, one of the buttons on the head unit will have 'AUX VOL' above it. Press that button and turn the setting up to halfway (or further depending on your taste). Then enjoy the great sound!

Thanks for the explanation. Not too sure the IDrive set up has the Aux Volume but I'll have to go back and take a look.

I think there is an Ipod car amplifier/charger that you can get through Belkin that will help clean up the sound.

iDrive doesn't have AUX volume, i looked all over for it. Still hoping that Denison or Apple will make an iPOD connector.

I'll see if I can get some pictures of how the Aux Vol works on the professional head unit in case it helps you guys in some way. Note that the Aux Vol only becomes available on mine once I have selected the Aux input.
