The local dealer graciously let me take the car out again today so that I could evaluate it in better conditions. Here’s my brief write-up.

Have you had a chance to drive your car and form thoughts on it?

Congrats OP! New car day is about as close to Xmas as we come in adulthood.
Many many miles of happy motoring ahead. Enjoy!

It sure looks very nice though, hard to justify the premium for vernasca now unless you're someone like Germanauto who detest anything optional to real leather.

Congrats, OP! Love the sapphire black with the cognac, it's a really nice combination! Especially with that purple interior accent lighting. 👌

I was really thrilled to see that you have the 791M style wheels, these are the first real photographs of a G42 I've seen spec'd with them! That's what I selected for my build; I was worried they might be a bit too one-dimensional or monotone compared to the bi-color wheels that seem to be more popular, but they look like they compliment the car perfectly I think! And reading your description of the driving experience is making me even more excited to get mine.

I do have to make a jab at your title though, not just men are BMW enthusiast. 😉

C'mon, new car day is by far the best holiday of all!

How does the engine and exhaust sound? Does it have any volume to it?

The exhaust at cold start sounds amazing. In sport mode the increased exhaust noise in definitely noticeable but never distracting or obnoxious. You can occasionally hear warbles and pops when letting off the power at high revs but they feel like more of an afterthought. People want to hear these sounds, but "creating" them runs directly against the emissions and fuel economy standards these companies are forced into following.

Engine noise in spirited driving really sounds great. There is a menu toggle for adjusting engine noise (balanced and quiet are the two main options iirc) in iDrive but I have not had a chance to compare the settings and see if I can notice a difference.

I still love my Golf. Damn BMW for not offering a manual on this but the budget was already stretched getting this, an M2 would not have been a responsible decision.
Yes the VW Golf GTI is the best car on the planet.

Every other car 🚗 is trying to hard.

Congratulations OP looks awesome!!!

I wish my VW had been a GTI. I got the launch edition Golf in 2014 (2015 model) and while it had a great touch screen with bluetooth for an entry level trim, it did not feature simple features like cruise control.

Photo is after I had KW coilovers installed and swapped out the dreadful steel wheels with hubcaps over to Audi knockoff rims. My mechanic was over enthusiastic with the ride height and I had it raised up later on.

Looks awesome!

Super rare 2 door.

I don't mess with suspension or tuning anymore.

Now I just keep perfect maintenance and fresh tires.

I did:
APR stage 1 = 300+ HP 380 torque
Went back to stock almost cooked my clutch
Full MSS suspension
Not good for long road trips

Went back to 100% stock.

I'll definitely say the adaptive LED's at night are amazing. When the high beams are activated the intensely bright "search light" center beam really helps illuminate where the car is going. The automatic setting seemed quick to respond to oncoming cars as well as turning off if it detected cars ahead going in the same direction as me.

The gold stripe in the assembly also looks killer.

nah I'm absolutely fine with that if it fells great and not will be ripped in 10k miles then it should be a great product. I had black one in my f30, 40k miles didn't rip at all

In nearly 40k miles and 38 months, the Dakota leather in my 18 340i still looks new. But I get it, Sensatec will basically last forever under normal use.

I've got leather in my 2016 228i at 46k and it still looks and feels like new.

I used to think this too about sensatec but just noticed some splitting on the seam of the driver's side seat cushion in my 2019 m240i xdrive. only have 27k miles on it and had it for a little over 3 years. needless to say I'm glad I got leather on the new m240i xdrive that I ordered.

Sadly I have never been in the back of an F series to compare. I am 6'1" and height wise I just barely fit. The side to side room was not bad. The leg room is entirely dependent on how kind the front seat passengers are

I've stuffed 3 adults in the back seat of my F22 for a 10 minute drive. Not comfy, but they were drunk ( I was dedicated &#128077. Two smaller adults or kids would be fine. Not a great deal of room, kinda like flying economy.
