Probably it is just fake news but, speaking with my salesman about swapping to an already ordered M3 (and with allocation for build in next few weeks), he told me: "It seems to me that it will be the only way you will be able to get a car this year".

Again, just telling you what I was told, it doesn't mean anything...

Any idea how many orders they have already on the books?

I don’t know if this is what you ask for but I am 2nd on the list. The dealer has 5 or 6 in total.

I had posted on that thread asking whether it's a stop for all 2 models... 230 and 240... or just M240i specific.

If true and they stopped just M240i specific because their is an issue then honestly I rather they stop to correct whatever build/quality issue they have than to receive my car and have to deal with it later.

Last year they stopped for a bit due to iDrive issue?

I wanted to share my thoughts as someone who worked at the retailer & corporate level with BMW, someone who buys 4-5 new cars a year ( summer and winter for my wife and I), and someone who has a M2 on order.

I have a strong belief that this may be a knee-jerk rumor to one or many of their suppliers forecasting production for the remainder of the year. With all the talk of a recession, and lots of canceled orders for ordered cars. We are starting to see retailers gain inventory without subvented lease/finance rates to move products.

We were once in a spot not long ago where people committed to vehicles at 1-2% interest rate. Now, these clients are looking at >7% months later when the car arrives. In my personal situation, my 911 turbo order was #24 at my dealer as now seen 13 people ahead of me cancel.

In the same way that manufacturers cut orders at the start of covid, I imagine they are willing to do the same to ensure they and their retailers don't get stuck shelving products that will decay.

Going to continue to follow this thread and see what other folks think!

Half the dealerships I’ve talked to say there’s no delay, and that cars will arrive in June/July. There other half say production is delayed and cars won’t arrive until November/December. Which is it?

I should have waited to sell my Porsche. It’s going to suck if I go all Spring and Summer without a sports car to drive on the weekends :-/

You act like there is no delay and wait for an official announcement if there really is one. What’s YOUR dealer say? I asked mine and he said “I’ll look into it” and hasn’t text back so oh well I assume all is good

Congrats? I’ve been talking to six different dealerships in two states and I’m getting mixed messages. Maybe your dealership is dumb?

People are making $70,000+ commitments to this car. Being concerned about a delay is reasonable. You’re the one getting upset that we’re having this conversation. Maybe your life should go on if you don’t care…? Bye.

Would this ease your concern?

Lots of dealers said the G87 is available in Individual colors, you want to go with that too?
