Bluetooth audio not working
Hi all,
Quick question for the experts. I stream Spotify from my iPhone to the car, last week it just stopped working. Phone calls still work but I cannot get Bluetooth audio to work. I’ve tried deleting the device and adding again, but no joy. Also checked that Bluetooth audio is checked under the mobile devices. Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks |

Does it show as playing on the idrive but can't hear anything? If so check the volume on your phone is on max. |

It’s not an issue with volume, the idrive says Bluetooth audio not available.
Phone doesn’t seem to have that setting, I haven’t changed anything on the phone to cause it to stop working. |

Ah ok.
You could try deleting the phone off the idrive and pulling the negative terminal off the battery for an hour and trying again. Also can see if there's an update for your car here https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html |

I had similar the other day. Deleting phone from iDrive, re-starting phone and then pairing again fixed it.

I realize the original post is a bit dated, but I had the same thing happen to me this summer and it took a frustrating month or two to figure it out. I came across an answer that if there are certain characters in the phone's display name the Bluetooth in the BMWs can't deal with it and all phones disappear.
My phone updated its name somewhere along the way, it certainly wasn't me and it turns out that was the culprit. I changed the phone name in my android and iPhone to a simple one-word name. Tada!! Everything lit up and it all appears to be working again. Hope this helps. |

Any updates on this issue? I just starting having the same problem with my 340i. Phone is connected to Bluetooth but audio won't connect. I even tried factory resetting idrive but it didn't work. Also tried all the solutions possible.

BT Issue '14 F34 328i GT
I am having the same issues with my Pixel 7 Pro, which started in December 2022. BT Audio plays 1 or 2 tracks, if that, and then freezes. If I take a call while music is playing, it freezes and I have to reset the system. Super frustrating.
Car is currently at the dealer being looked at. They did a hard reset and asked me to try my GF's iPhone 14 first, since these cars were programmed for iPhone compatibility, and then see if it has issues connecting and streaming Spotify. Luckily I have an extended warranty that covers the Idrive unit in case it is actually failing. Will update with my findings. |

I've an IP 14 Pro Max and my wife has a Pixel 7; zero issues with either and both work faultlessly...
One thing to change is the phones Bluetooth name; mines 'Dans Mobile' and keeping it simple like that helps... A lot of the times it's the phones official make and if it has underscores/hyphens in etc; it doesn't always play well

Same car, same problem. I had to change the key fob battery and voila! Bluetooth audio worked again.

1. Make sure Bluetooth is on for your phone 2 make sure the Volume on phone and car Audio system is high enough. 3. Try playing music using YouTube app on your phone. if it plays then problem with Spotify app. 4. Using the iDrive Check the options menu for that phone connection, then go to Configure, and make sure that Bluetooth Audio box is checked. I have three boxes on mine (telephone 1, Telephone 2, Bluetooth audio) 5. On your phone for that Bluetooth paired connection make sure "Media audio" button is on. I have 4 button on my phone. (Call audio, Media audio, Contact access, Message access). Each one controls what Bluetooth is allowed to do for that paired connection. |
