Was anyone able to confirm if the G42 US spec has resonators? Looks like there is none from the pics?

There are no resonators. Just straight pipe after downpipe to the muffler.

Tempe, but I’ve sold it and am waiting for the G87.

xDrive wasn’t my cup of tea sadly.

Need Education

I have stock set up on 2023 M240i. I live cold climate and vapor only comes out of one side on start up. Can someone educate me how this exhaust works ? Is it duel or not ? The picture in this thread looks like it should be both in use?

There is a valve that keeps the left exhaust closed until a certain rpm and vacuum is reached. At that point, it opens the other side. Pretty clever bit of engineering to make sure the engine and exhaust are working together for optimal performance (which for BMW DOES include efficiency and emissions as part of that target).

OK

I have heard of the valve thing in exhaust, so that makes sense and is cool I guess.

Thanks for the explanation.

Don’t do muffler delete. Sounds good but has a lot drone. I mean a lot. I did it and I even add small muffler and j pipe to limit the drone but I put muffler back after two weeks. Now has fi valve exhaust on the car. Perfect setup for a daily drive. My ig is @joseph.m240i let me know if you have any questions. I saw there’s people saying how good it sounds and no drone. But trust me, go get a aftermarket exhaust system don’t do only the muffler delete.

I was planning on a muffler delete and adding two bullet resonators (one on each pipe), like what another member did here.

Do you think that has a lot drone still?

That’s what I did. I add Dynomax race bullet on each pipe. But still too much drone for my taste. If I am at high school age and driving a civic I might think it’s ok. But I pay lots more for a luxury sport car. Also I care my neighbors. the cold start with muffler delete is way too loud. So I really think the only way to go is a exhaust with valve. I spent $700 (muffler delete, add bullet, add j pipe) to get this conclusion. But it’s your car and everyone is different.
