Yeah, I've had the very first of the last three iterations of the M3/M4 Coupes ('01, '08 & current '15) When the G82 came out I did not have the same drive to preorder. Looking seriously at the G87 as an alternative.

G42 has more presence than the current M3/4 then...ok wow

It’s a good time to trade “down”. We recently traded my 8y old F80 for a 2022 M240i for my wife. Almost a one for one trade with pocket change difference. The G42 is an absolute charmer, yes it has the faults of all modern BMWs of numb steering and it’s front end grip and general robustness can’t compare with an M car but somehow it’s just a riot to drive. If you just let it do it’s thing and stop obsessing over details it will win you over. The B58 iin this tune is superb and relentlessly dishes out anything you ask of it. The G87 is going to be one heck of a car

Same here I traded down from an 18 F80 comp to the M240i with performance pack. This car is a blast to drive and my plan is to spec an M2 as soon as my CA says allocations are available.

If my experience with the M240 is any indication I truly believe the G87 will be the best M car BMW will be making. The G42 chassis along with the B58 is fantastic, with an S58 it's going to be glorious.

Same here if BMW include the competition model with CF buckets and all other goodies at launch. At least that was the plan but now it seems I’ll need to pry the M240i out my dead wife’s hands…she is already booking time for tint and has asked our CA to setup time for the M performance exhaust as soon as it becomes available

Then again if the comp or CS comes with MT it might just have to be solved with his/hers.

Had a 2020 M240i, liked it a lot, especially the size. Taking delivery of M4CX in few weeks, but the smaller 2 series is my preference. I'd take an auto....and AWD.

Does anyone know when first allocations are supposed to be available?

With the car going into production in December, I'm going to guess the HEA car will pop up late October in a stores pipeline. Whether or not that car will be modifiable is tough to say.

Subsequent allocations will likely be given out in November for January production and March/April deliveries.

Still hopeful they offer an awd iteration down the line, just worried the g8x awd platform would be too large and 240x not compatible at all..

I understand, however car isn't even out yet and there should be several M2 models, so perhaps they offer the auto/awd on one 🤞

Seems that a lot of people are inquiring about this as well. Might I suggest you create a thread with voting to see what the take rate is. BMW follows most of the chatter on this forum; if enough people ask for it they will consider it. I could create the thread myself, but I have zero interest in xDrive.

If that were true than the G81 would be coming over to the US.

I would argue that there's a much bigger market for xDrive than there is for a shooting brake, but what the hell do I know.

Hard to say...I know there's a petition with 50k signatures for the G81 to come abroad floating around here.

Should be September-October…ish if production starts in December. Still ways to go.

I was at my dealer today and one of the managers said the official reveal should be in July. August/September for the ordering guide and October/November for allocations with production starting in December.

All speculation. I promise you no dealer manager knows this for a fact.
