Order with only nice parts from M performance parts, than:
1) coilovers (probably AST 5300 or Moton) inc. rear arms
2) AP racing Pro 5000 R (maybe just in front because of EPB)
3) direct brake cooling
4) engine cooling if necessary
5) exhaust back box
6) 18" wheels for track
7) Cup2R, Trofeos R or Hankook Z221 (only 18")

Maybe later some more carbon parts, data display, seats or more power

Nothing too exciting. PPF 'track pack' plus full doors. Tint /w clear on front. Blendmount and hardwire for the V1 gen 2. After that I'll look at cat back exhaust options. Maybe a little coding.

What I definitely want to do this time is PCD. I need a good excuse for a damn vacation. It's been a rough couple years. Gonna take a week or two off. Work can suck it.

1st "round" of mods:
- tints
- painted reflectors
- 50th anniversary badges (if not from factory)
- ceramic coating. apparently it's a godsend if you dislike dirty cars

2nd "round" of mods:
- roof rack (i like the aesthetic)
- maybe some m-performance parts, depending on what is released
- maybe wheels? totally depends on the colors and the shape of the car, and obviously the ones that'll get released. HRE FF10's look super dope, but so might some rotiforms.

by that time i'll probably be looking for my next car anyway

Mods with warranty
  1. I'm thinking M performance coil overs factory installed.
  2. Aftermarket depends on what carbon fiber cosmetics they develop.
  3. Definitely a Dinan or Armaspeed carbon fiber intake.
  4. Then a Valvetronic or Active Autoworke single midpipe or full exhaust and downpipes.
  5. Maybe a JB4 but I'm afraid of the warranty.
  6. Tints/ceramic and PPF very soon after delivery but I feel like that's a preventative maintenance.

After warranty I'm going a 8 out of 10 fbo as much as possible but safely without building. I have a spreadsheet based off G80/82 parts lol.
  1. Full tune with flex fuel. Aftermarket clutch. All supporting mods.
  2. Upgraded turbo
  3. Aftermarket manifold for port injection.

Doesn't it already come with alloy pedals?

I see a lot folks mentioning a "full ceramic" coating. While I certainly recognize there are benefits to the industrial stuff, I would suggest everyone look into over the counter products.

I was really surprised at how good they've gotten and how easily they can be applied by someone who doesn't detail for a living. I spent $80 on materials and my wife's Telluride Dawning Red Paint looks amazing, and still has a "wet" feel to it almost a month later. We'll see how well it ages but the bottle says two coats for up to 12months. It only took an 1.5hrs.

Good point. I spent $1500 on ceramic coating my Porsche and ended up selling it 6mo later. Sure it was easy to keep clean those 6mos but boy was it a waste of money given how quick I got rid of the car. I think with this M2 I’m going to try over the counter sealant that I’ll apply myself and then assuming I have the car a year later (which I think I will) I’ll see how it will have held up and if I want to apply again or jump to a professional coating.

Wow, $1500? Sounds like they may have upcharged as it was a Porsche (assuming not the SUV). My shop charges $750.

Before the ceramic, I will be color correcting (never seen a car that didnt truly need/benefit from it) and adding a clear bra to the nose, hood, front fenders and mirrors.

I would skip the JB4, not worth the price and install (its really a joke product). Why not just put that money towards a real tune and be done with it.

From what I was told from my friend who works for BMW NA is that they no longer "like" any type of ECU modification (even know JB4 is just a piggyback) and can be a warranty voider.

Other question for any bolt-on mods, what will be available when the car is released -or- when will they be available.

It might have been a little cheaper, 1200 or so plus tax. I got the full service treatment including the high end coating + glass, trim, and full wheel coating

Went through a similar scenario with a new 4C Spider. Dumped a chunk of money into correction, ceramic coating, wheels treated, etc. and then sold it less than a year later. Since I typically don’t keep vehicles very long, I’ve skipped this process entirely. But I’m now seriously considering the M2 may be a much longer term relationship. So the plan is to get paint correction followed by full PPF. Then I can do my own ceramic coating. I just think the PPF is a better use of the money versus ceramic coating.

From the few videos I've seen on it, folks recommend ceramic first, then PPF. Not sure if it matters though...

PPF aka clear bra definitely before ceramic. If ceramic first, PPF will have issues properly adhering.

PPF is worth every penny, but I've never gotten into the ceramic coating (CC) craze. They are harder to apply correctly if you're a DIY'r, expensive, prone to water spots and difficult to maintain. People actually buy products as toppers to protect the ceramic from water spots. So now you're protecting the thing you put on your car to protect the paint? How silly is that?

There are tons of sealants that do just as good a job at shedding water as CC at a fraction of the cost. Here's the little secret that detailing people won't tell you. Yes, sealants don't last as long as a CC but that's only half the story. You'll typically get 6~9mo of protection from a quality sealant but that's only if you don't maintain them. By maintain I mean top them off with another coat every few months. By doing so they will outlast any CC on the market. Many of them even let you spray them on after a wash while the car is wet and either wipe them or rinse them off, it's that simple.

Pretty basic stuffs

Tints
Wrap license plate
Ceramic coating (doing it myself)
Maybe wrap the roof and mirrors… maybe

Will get the roof rack eventually, pity the one I have now doesn't fit.
