Dang, I was hoping they were just simple open ports like the M2 CS Racing has in its bumper. Did they look good to you?
I feel you. Yeah they're very different to the ones on the CS racing, mainly because they're kinda integrated into the headlight. It's an interesting design for sure. Looks good though

Is the hood a direct G42 transplant or is it significantly different in any way? Thanks for the info!
Didn't get a good look at the hood, so I am not 100% on that. I believe they are straight from the 2 series though. Guess we'll see about that though

Did it have the carbon fiber roof? I assume same style as g82?

That I did not see. Great question though, I'll have POC look Monday. Car was covered above the bumper level

It's been confirmed by ynguldyn in this thread that the CF roof will be an option. Still unclear if it's standard with the competition version.

Also, were the vents under the headlights black or body colored?
Looking at some G87 spy pics I don't see what the difference is vs the G42. That said I'm glad they are body colored. Really bothered me on the G42 that they were black, literally the worst color in the world to keep clean and free of imperfections on a car.

Here are some pics of the G42 rocker panels, from Project_F87's description these seem to be the same. Am I missing something?

Look at how the side skirt end in the rear on this concept car. It angles up and forward to create a gap to the rear fender quarter way up the side of the car, like a rear fender vent. It sounds like this design made it to the production car. The swirls hide this on the mules.

Are you referring to the horizontal line just above the rocker panel behind the door? The rocker extends up behind the door, like a rudder on a plane?

Ohh shit, I see the little triangle now. Wow, that would look really cool.

It definitely will add to the badassery of the car in the DTM direction as indicated by Project_F87. This thing is going to look ace. My wife’s 2 month old M240i is hanging very loose

Yep exactly! It's a weird design for sure, very new

That's right but for some reason that horizontal line doesn't go all the way to the door like it does on the concept. So there'll be a gap between the door and the side skirt. Hope that doesn't create too many awkward unnecessary lines on the car.

it routes down and into the bottom of the door. Here's a better pic of the line, traced its path in red to see it better.

To me, this type of race car inspired design elements are a return to the original. Nowadays many see the E30 M3 as a clean and classy design. At the time though for me that was there when it was on sale it was rather extreme with its raised large rear spoiler and all. Some regarded it as vulgar and juvenile.

It sounds like the G87 will have some new design elements making it more along those lines. A bit more extrovert in your face brawny than the cleaner F87 and G82.

I like it.

I see it, but on the concept that line horizontally connects to the door without dropping down first. Either way, I'm definitely intrigued by how intentional they are in trying to make this aggressive. I really haven't been looking forward to a reveal like this in a while…

Same here, I'm getting the same vibe as I did before the F87 debut all those years back.

They're probably setting it up for some aggressive M performance parts
