BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Just seen a comment on a YouTube video saying that the I4 interior & infotainment screens are coming soon on the 2 series, any truth to this ?

That would be expected as they roll it out but also such a slap in the face to 2022 G42 early owners, since it just came out and will already have an "outdated" interior.
It's not like the G20 which has had the current G42 interior since 2019.

Not much difference in the interior except for the i8 and the lack of more physical button. Most here are probably hoping they get theirs built before the update.

I guess I was referring more to the iDrive 8 upgrade which will need the new interior hardware but you're right for everything else

"dürfte auch dem BMW 2er Coupé ein ungewohnt frühes Interieur-Facelift für die Integration des Curved-Display bevorstehen. "

>>the BMW 2 Series Coupé should also face an unusually early interior facelift for the integration of the curved display. "

Surely most of the dash and centre console will be different , our car is due to arrive in September & I really wouldn't be happy paying full price if it was updated a few months later , I had seen spy shots with the screens in the new M2 but I had no idea about the M240i being updated so soon .

if the so called "interior facelift" means just throwing the idrive8 curved display on the dash and sticking it there with some levers like on the i4/ix models , then better no facelift like this please

It's embarrassingly lazy how BMW has approached "integrating" ID8 and the new screen into the newer models. I would love to hear the head of interior design's explanation on why it looks like such an afterthought

He would probably say "well, we are expecting to have problems with the new curved ID8 display and we decided to make it easier for us to replace it by just throwing it on top of the dash."

That display will definitely make its way into the 2. I've seen spyshots of the upcoming M2 with it installed.
Personally, I absolutely hate these new displays. Hated it when I first saw it on MB models, and absolutely hate that it's becoming a "thing". Design wise, it's SO lazy and looks terrible.
Wish they would stick to a more traditional instrument cluster with better digital designs integrated rather than slapping two massive screens on a dashboard.

I know I sound stupid saying this, but I'd have never ordered my car if that type of display was the only option. Even if everything else about the car is amazing, given it's your primary focus when driving(other than the road of course), it would've been a hard pass.
Unless everyone moves to this, and I no longer have a choice, it's enough to make me favor competitors with better clusters when I'm in the market again.

Hopefully it'll always be an option to upgrade to, and isn't a standard feature.

It sound like it's not optimal and if you order a car today it will delivered 2023 with the new interior but we will see , I don't feel comfortable paying full price for a car that's having a big update just months later .
You may not like the screens but it's the way all interiors are going , we have a W177 A class that's had it for years , it makes the W176 look so dated now .

Personally, I'm glad I got mine when I did. That display would've turned me off the car so bad.

Unfortunately it does seem like that's where everyone is headed. Which is super disappointing to me at least. I've seen those aclass cars. My neighbor has one.. can't stand that display one bit. I would take the W176 over the 177 any day just for that reason.

Of course it's subjective, as all designs are, but yeah..not a fan lol

I'm so happy mine was built already and has idrive 7, indeed i wouldn't have bought it if it had idrive 8 (Future M2 G87 will be idrive 8 for sure, that's one of the main reasons i picked a M240i before it changes to new idrive, this was already known for quite some months, i mean the facelift with idrive 8 starting in summer)

Damn I wonder what they will announce … I'll be watching the BMW news tomorrow. I don't imagine it will be any good news for us waiting for a production week to be assigned (again)

Well I guess it could be news for those who’d prefer id8 over id7!

Has anyone seen or heard anything yet today?
