Wanted to write a quick post regarding the project that I'm considering/probably going to do tomorrow. We got ahold of a salvaged 135I with a good trans on it.
I was planning on replacing my solenoids in my Car tomorrow anyway & figured I'd pull the valve body out of the 135I & place it in mine. From everything I see everything would work, just not sure how the car & the DME would react the GKE215 TCU. I know the module is tuned for MUCH more horsepower, but everyone flashes the Alpina flash to the x35I's with great results & the alpina is 60HP higher than the standard 35I variant. As mentioned, this is purely for testing purposes to see if it's possible for a 330I to run alpina flash with a 335I valvebody TCU. Let me know your input.... |

Interesting project, Is this the ZF 6HP19TU? I think the ZF 6HP19TU was the same box as the ZF 6HP19 with an upgraded megastronics units and a few extra clutch plates. TCU was upgraded to handle the additional code. I thought some of the 335 cars had an even larger box ZF 6HP26. In any case, you are probably going to have a hard time finding a calibration file that works with your high revving N52. Off topic, I have a few things going on in my life right now and I need to consider a newer car so I test drove a N55 based car the other day. Great low end torque but it seemed to fall on it's face at 6,000 RPM. Totally disappointed. In general, I loved the car but I can't see my self buying a car that is less fun to drive than my E85. |

I've driven quite a few N55's and installed Jb4's on 6 or so of them now. They are fun cars & I love the torque, if I was in a position to get a newer car I'd definitely snatch a 435I & throw a Jb4 on it. |

Just got through sorting through some of the GKE215 ZB's and there are some that belong to 330I N52's. At least I know that if the results of the Alpina flash arent worthwhile or any of the other files, I have a ZB I can flash to instead of switching the valvebody back over.....

By the way, which TCU does your E85 have? It looks like theirs a Z4 EGS sport flash. |

It's the first generation of ZF 6 speeds. Not the TU or technical upgrade used after 2007+ in the E90. |

Yes I know it's pulls massive power over the N52 but the fun just seems to end early. I'm not there yet. If I could throw a few grand at my E85 and freshen it up for a few more years I will keep it. Just won't be able to do my own wrenching anymore. |

Once swapped, these cars will accept the Alpina Flash. |

I don't see why not. However, I think the Z4 is Can11h, not BN2000, so you would have to figure out how to enable Can11h for it to work on the Z4 (this is a simple byte setting on the DME, but finding that byte on the TCU could be difficult).
IIRC these things use an MPC500 CPU - if anyone has a complete dump of one, I'd love to see it. I kind of want to do a disassembly of one. |

Update on the project, we got the 135 valve body out & got the new solenoids put in. I ordered a new adaptor seal & pressure seals to put in when I have my valve body out. Once they come in, we'll complete the swap & do the flash & I'll update the results. |

But after the swap, if all works well, the old TCU is yours. |

It looks like I'm going to go a step further & order all new seals & o rings for my trans while I do this project. Probably going the sonnax zip kit route. With that said, it may be mid next week before I get the parts & can get a lift vacant to use for the entire day. |
