Carwow New M2 v. M240i (G42) Drag Video

Previous-gen M2 v. current-gen M240i. The results are almost expected.

See? The brakes are fine. Just push harder.

I was a detractor on the brakes being too soft. However, after someone pulled out in front of me on a poorly lit road last night, I had to emergency brake and damn-bravo bmw. The car stopped in its tracks. No drama, no skids. Just STOP.

If I was in my highlander I'm almost certain I'd have hit the guy.

I have been curious if other 3/4 series had similar braking concerns. I would expect it's all the same parts for the same chassis.

The brakes are great, the pedal feel is just too soft given the actual stopping power but it is a luxury brand sports car don't forget.

You can almost hear the "real M car" boys tears in this video.

i'll still take the comfort of the M240 for the very slight lack in pure performance. especially given mine will never set foot on a track. loved the video and cant wait for G42 vs G87.

Perhaps an easy solution could be an m2 brake mc and or booster. Havent looked into the details/part difference. Just an idea.

Good idea.

I was also thinking some pads with some more aggressive bite might also do the trick.

I'm coming from a 2020 Porsche 911, so arguably the best brakes in the industry. A hard benchmark for any car.
