That's a personal decision. If I go through with my M240, I plan to replace it with an M2 in 36 months. The M2 is gonna be a monster, the M240 is already a beast it just doesn't have the M-caliber suspension. And the biggest factor for me at least is the MANUAL TRANS in the M2!

If you want RWD/6MT and its in your budget and you can wait at least another year then my opinion is to wait for the M2.

The M240ix is fine. Fun little car. Very compliant suspension which makes it a great daily driver. Unless you are highly annoyed or particular about steering or brake response or feel, this non-M iteration will be fine for now.

m240xi is a fun, quick, daily driver. It's probably enough for 90% of consumers.

M2 should be a much better sports car if you want the "ultimate driving machine" short of a Porsche.

Like the above poster, I just picked up a 240 for a daily. If I can get a M2 without dealer games or markups, I will probably get one.

It all comes down to personal preference. What are you planning to do with the car? Just daily? Track? Autocross? Drag strip or highway pulls in Mexico? Or is it just a status symbol that's going to pull up to cars and coffee and sit in a garage.

you can wait forever to get an new car or get something to enjoy way sooner

With today's market, You should be pretty safe to drive the M240xi until the M2 comes out.

If you make less than $2M per year then everything is a trade off. What is the opportunity cost of the additional money spent (less travel, more time spent working, etc.)?

If this is your main hobby and and you track your car regularly then it might be justifiable.

I currently have an M2C and want the new M240i.
most afraid I'll miss the dct and the tight chassis of the M2C.
there is high probability I'll end up with a camaro though.

i had a m2c as well and i sold it recently.

I have another car coming in May, which is a big price item.
I was just going to get a civic, then i was like 30k for a civic. let's get a 230i, then i saw the price difference of 8k between 230i and M240xi. I was like hmm. i can swing the m240xi. I can swing the M2c as well but by the time it comes out i am sure it will be like 75k the way i want it. Carbon roof, carbon seats etc etc.

i really like the color thundernight, what if they don't even offer that on the m2c.

we will see. i am really enjoying and seeing the great reviews of the M240xi and it looks good to me.

Coming from m340i dont do that. I would wait for the new m2c

Couldnt be more happier with the outgoing m2c than the m3/240i

I can't afford the G87!
And miss the V8.
The camaro is cheaper than the m240 by approx. $16,500 here.

I made the decision to wait for the M2. I think it's going to be a very special car, as it could possibly the last BMW ICE 2 series they'll produce, not to mention MT.

M2 will be arriving what...spring of 2023?

Then they'll make a better model like M2 competition that likely wont arrive until 2024.

There's always something better coming out. If you need a car now, no point in waiting. If you dont need a car now, the m240i isn't exactly some must have limited edition car.
