F31 LCI interior light problem
Ok, new F31 LCI and I've noticed an odd problem with the interior rear passenger lights, the ones on the ceiling by the grab handles.
Every now and again one of them will come on, it might be the left and then next time the right. To turn them off I've been turning all the interior lights on and then off using the button above the driver. It's very random and very annoying, the other thing is that it seems to be linked to using ACC and when you come up to a stop behind a car, although that may just be random. Has anyone had interior lights randomly turning themselves on and off? Thanks all.

It's very odd, I'll email the dealer to give him a heads up and give it another week to see if it's fettling issues.

Yep, had exactly the same problem although never noticed it being linked to ACC. I just turned them off manually and it seemed to do the trick and I just put it down to new car gremlins. That said, I've been away from my car for 5 weeks and won't see it until next week so it'll be interesting to see if it's still going on.

Ok, that's interesting, notified the dealer and they are as mystified. I was going to start some coding, but i think i'll hang fire until this is sorted.
I'll let you know how i get on with it. Thanks

Cheers, I'd be very interested to know how you get on. I also noticed that the graded distance indicator in the dash when ACC is on sometimes flickered on and off but again, put it down to new car gremlins.

Hey that's very interesting. We spotted the same today. Rear passenger light just randomly came on while driving. We have found it on several times before but assumed that was our son messing about. Looks as though he's not guilty this time.

Very odd. But good that Christmas won't be cancelled for messing with the car
Is it purely random or does it happen when ACC or any other toy is turned on? Cheers

Same here too, had it a few times, previous ones did it too. Assumed they'd been bashed or something by accident but don't think that's likely tbh.

ok, i know it's a small sample size, but it's enough to make me think there is something to it more than new car gremlins.

OP, did you ever resolve this? I've just done a run up to Jockland and back and it happened a couple of times more. It's not the end of the world but still irritating!

I've had the same - only noticed it last week for the first time and, at the time, thought that someone had inadvertently left it on. I was alone, driving along the motorway at the time, so I turned it off with the button next to the light, but about an hour later I noticed it was on again?! I thought that maybe I hadn't pressed the button properly, due to concentrating on traffic etc, so this time I watched the light go off as I switched it off, and on that occasion it stayed off!
Having read this thread, I'm now wondering if it came on itself, or did I not turn it off properly as I stretched my arm behind me, whilst driving? But why was it on in the first place? Had someone inadvertently left it on, as I first assumed? I'm going to keep an eye on it now I also had been using ACC. Last edited by Lux700; 01-04-2016 at 08:00 PM.. Reason: Typo |

It's come on a couple of times without ACC on for me, I think it's coincidental.

Mine did it again a couple of days ago and had been using ACC. I'd never correlated the two before but it's very possible thinking about it, I use ACC almost every time I drive the thing. We asked our small person if she'd turned the light on, she protested that she hadn't, we both said we believed her and she kept protesting, we had to re-assure her that we actually believed her and the car has gremlins

Ok, after about thirty mins on m1 without ACC on, which now seems very strange, one of my interior lights came on. I'll try the return journey tomorrow to see if it happens again with ACC off.

I've been having the same issue. I'm pretty certain it's linked to the ACC as it's only on motorways I notice the lights coming on.
