LCI Paddle shifters don't fit M3 DCT wheel
Thanks to two different forum members I got a M3 DCT steering wheel and a set of non-M E9X LCI paddle shifters. I thought this would be an easy install, doing the quick modification to get LCI paddles to work on a pre-LCI car already equipped with paddles.
However I just learned the LCI non-M E9X paddles don't even fit on the M3 DCT wheel. The cutouts on the wheel are a different shape. Is there any clean way to modify them to fit? Does anyone make any adapter plate? Good opportunity for someone into 3D printing. M3 DCT paddles on eBay are obscenely overpriced. I actually use the shifter more than the paddles when shifting manually so they're not absolutely necessary, however I would still like to have them for a clean installation. |

I would like to see some photos of the differences. I always thought they would work. In all reality, a little trimming would probably make them work no problem.

Trimming of what though, the steering wheel or the paddle bracket? I could trim the steering wheel but it's not going to be pretty. I'll get some photos.

That's why I asked for photos.

If it was a generic wheel I'd be tempted to hack away at it, but M3 wheels are kinda' precious.

I have two good 335i sport auto steering wheels with paddle cutouts but no thumb bumps, and two sets of paddles, LCI and pre-LCI. I also have a manual sport steering wheel with the thumb bumps. If I can sell all these I can justify buying the M3 paddles. |

M-Sport wheel would work, in fact I sourced my LCI paddles from a M-sport wheel and I have it now but the leather is horrible, no chance of refinishing it, it needs a new wrap. I absolutely LOVE the M3 leather wheel. But if I can't get these paddles to work, it's cheaper to get one of my wheels re-wrapped than to find DCT paddles. $265 for Alcantara, never had an Alcantara wheel, how easy are they to keep clean? |

I had my M Sport steering wheel retrimmed in new leather in a combination of smooth and perforated leather. Makes such a massive difference having a nice feeling contact point!

I can get a leather cover from these guys and install it myself: https://www.redlinegoods.com/E92shif...r--Sport-wheel However the photos on their site don't look great; the seams look too thick. Here's another option that got my attention: https://zunnperformance.com/products...bmw-e90-1-2-m3 They're much cheaper than even used OEM M3 DCT paddles. |
