2018 Yankees

Too early?

What a winter it’s been! Who would’ve thought 2017 team would miss the World Series by one game. From Judge to Sanchez to Severino to Chad Green, a lot of good things have surfaced in the Bronx in 2017. And now...add Stanton and Boone to the mix!!

Let’s see your lineup projection for opening day!

My thinking is 2018 Yankees will follow a lineup similar to 2012 Yankees, where we smacked a club record 245 HRs. Batting order was L-R-L-R, so my guess is we’ll do more or less the same in 2018.

I’m thinking:

1. Gardner - LF
2. Judge - RF/DH
3. Gregorious - SS
4. Stanton - RF/DH
5. Sanchez - C
6. Bird - 1B
7. Hicks - CF
8. Torres - 2B
9. Andujar/Free Agent/Trade - 3B

Wade (2B) and Torreyes (infield) should get plenty of playing time. Unfortunately, I think Clint Fraizer gets dealt, even though I think he’ll be a stud in a year or two. Fingers crossed we somehow dump Ellsbury.

Pitching rotation: Severino, Tanaka, Gray, CC, Montgomery/Trade

Lineup looks good, if your not the opposing pitcher. Pitchers and catchers report February 14th. I’m planning my spring training mini vacation now. Go Yankees.

Coming from a big Red Sox fan, the Yankees are looking VERY dangerous! That lineup is going to be super exciting to watch night after night. Only downside i see to the 2018 team is the new manager they decided to hire.. but thats not going to stop this offense from exploding

I like the lineup. We need another stud on the rotation. I'm not sure how many innings CC will give us. Maybe they will wait and see who's available at the All-Star break.
Looking for 28!

IMHO Clint Frazier > Aaron Hicks as he needs a chance in this lineup. Trading Clint Frazier for Fulmer/Cole would be a disaster. I am not in love with either of those pitchers as they remind me of the Carl Pavano/Javier Vasquez’s of the world. Expect the rotation to have some injuries and that is when you bring up Chance Adams and maybe even Sheffield. If Toddfather Frazier resigns for one year, he’ll be great at 3rb and maybe even play some First behind Bird is the Word.

Manny Machado can stay away from the Yankees as we don’t need him. This lineup reminds me of the 2004 lineup when we were so stacked back then:

1B Giambi
2B Cairo
SS Jetah
3B Arod
LF Matsui
CF Lofton/Williams
RF Sheffield
C Posada
DH Sierra

Pitching should be:

1. Malaka
2. Sev
3. Big boi
4. Monty
5. Grey’s Anatomy

Chance and Sheff in the wings.

Reason why I put Gray at the 5 is that I don’t trust him in a big spot. He’s a great #4 or #5 but that’s it.

I might go with 1) Sevy; 2) Tanaka; 3) CC; 4) Gray; and 5) Monty, just so we can get R-R-L-R-L and fuck with opposing teams every series. Agree with Chance and Sheff in the wings.

Not sure why reports have been saying Yankees looking to trade for starting pitching, I think it's unnecessary. We have 7 (maybe even 8 with Green going into Spring Training as a starter) capable starting pitchers. I say we keep what we have right now, and start preparing for Spring Training. Clint will get playing time, Hicks/Stanton have had history of injuries. Don't forget Judge has been injured last couple years as well (knee strain, oblique strain, and shoulder which required surgery this offseason).

It’s almost here. For those of you who never been to Tampa for spring training, please put it on your bucket list. I went last year, and I’m going to try to make it down to Tampa this year too.

Yeah I’ve been meaning to go since 2014 but haven’t had a chance. This year it needs to happen. Heck, I may even make a trip to Port St. Lucie and watch DeGromination, Thor and the ‘Light Day’ Harvey.

Believe me, you won’t be disappointed if you go see the Bronx Bombers. Now the Mets on the other hand, I wouldn’t waste my time. Not a Mets fan.

Man, 2 yrs $17M...I KNOW Yanks offered him somewhere in 1 yr $10M range. Surprised he chose the lowly Mets.

No matter, we still have rookies I'd rather see get some playing time.

Update on Judge, says he's still recovering from shoulder surgery and expects to miss early part of Spring Training. Says he'll be ready to go by the season opener. Don't expect him to play more than half Spring Training games, and might take him time to get up to speed early part of season.

I wouldn’t worry about Judge. Lineup is as deep as Waterworld so everyone will see pitches. Also, I truly feel that Clint Frazier could be the X factor IF he wins the starting job over Hicks.

Agreed, guy showed a lot of potential late last season.

What are the chances Ellsbury surprises everyone and hits .306 / 21 / 67 while playing a solid CF and LF?

They need to dump him for some cleats or trade him to the Seattle Legion of Kaboom Seahawks along with giving them back Russel Wilson for those toasted grasshoppers
