Parking assistant in a manual is very weird. Have you used it? You choose a parking spot and it steers for you. You select the gear and throttle it forwards and backwards into a spot. I would get it if I were buying an auto, but it just seems silly in a manual. My 2 cents.

Not silly if you have a tight garage, like I do.

The main problem with these 1st/2nd gen "automated" features is that in 10yrs they'll be memes on Web 3.0.

I, personally, would not trust parking assiat in a garage with a tight space nor in a crowded parking lot. Unless one has issues being able to judge space and parking, I would want to park myself and not trust a car's brain.

Similarly, auto manufacturers hands free driving is not only crazy but IMO silly. With the way others drive around, going hands free will eventually cause some bad wrecks and/or casualties.

I also opted for parking assistant w/ a MT. Parking in the city or in a tight spot always sucks and I'm all for every advantage I can have.

Generally I trust a machines sensor loop to understand where it is in relation to it's surroundings more than me, sitting off center in a car without visibility on all 4 corners and just 1 camera and 3 mirrors.

As far as hands free driving, I trust myself more than I do self driving tech, however I sure as hell don't trust the other people on the road who are texting/drunk/distracted and would much rather the car be in control them then lol.

Visibility of the four corners is a valid concern in this car. But a good parking lot and some orange cones can help a ton!

A good parking lot is a pipe dream in Boston/Cambridge, occasionally I'll take the M2 into the city, and when I do it'll suckkkk. Hence why the ~$200 for parking assistant was worth it for any extra help it can provide.

Parking

Even with parking assist. Once you squeeze into this spot.
Do you trust that when you return the cars you parked around wont leave you with an unasked for gift. That's what my 4runner is for.
If I take my M2 anywhere there must be plenty of space or I will pay to park it. There will be no "tight spots".

Would or would not? I trust it fully. I've demoed self parking to many many customers. It has worked perfectly every time.

Oops..that should have said would not. That is just me, I am sure it is proven or it would not be used by the manufacturers. I am just old school on things...now just where did they put the darn carburetor on this motor?

I have not, but $200 for an option is negligible and any added parking visibility/functionality is a plus for me. The car will be stored in the city. Not sure I’ll trust it 100% at first but still worth the try for me. Same with the wireless charging. The tiny chance I’ll use it once is worth the added $200 on a 77k car

My thoughts exactly , $200 these days is like a good steak dinner for you and the wife . A drop in the bucket

I just like the wireless charging for the convenience and possibly my passengers using it sporadically. Wires & phone cables I try to avoid if at all possible

Apple CarPlay with Spotify and/or Waze is constantly running so it basically keeps my phone battery at neutral and doesn't drain any %
I'm totally content with that

It worked decent in my 19' 540i , would definitely get warm but I wouldn't say scorching hot.

Most my commute is about a hour to an hour & half max and that's mostly due to LA traffic. That might explain it , longer drives might be a different story

But I upgrade my iPhone every year and have AppleCare+ , damaging or hurting the battery in any way is of little concern to me. Li-ion batteries degrade the moment you first charge them anyways , and will continue to do so along it's lifespan

I heard wireless charging has been upgraded with ID8 with a different unit or part# . Came across that info on the forums somewhere but don't quote me on that. Okay I went tooo deep into this haha I'll stop now. But it's just $200 bucks that's prolly my biggest takeaway here

Curious if BMW improved it. In my m340, my iPhone would get really hot, particularly in the summer. It would then start to act up and sometimes shutoff.

In my Navigator, I can drive hours without a problem. The phone is warm but not hot. But the phone never gets charged above 80-90%. I don’t know if the iPhone is limiting charging or if it’s the wireless charger.

My wife's Telluride never gets it past warm, but it's definitely slow and if you're playing a decent streaming service it only keeps it from discharging further.

111 means a little more than nothing, you don't even have an production number at 111, try adding a 111 vehicle to MyBMW, see what you get.
111s will take 12 months to clear, at a minimum.

I have plenty of knowledge and my Service Advisor, has way more juice than all of the poseurs and experts floating around here.

As to what I drive, you are just jelly that I can get any car I want, regardless of cost.
This has aged like milk. 8 days has passed and every single status 111 car has cleared. Every allocation is either in status 112 with the latest build date in week 17, or is already in 150. 8 days. This guy's service advisor should be fired!

Meanwhile our nightly cleaning crew is still claiming that the G87 has already gone NLA.
