Thundernight M240i on 795M Perf Wheels

Greetings All!
I'm not exactly new to Bimmerpost, but it's been a while since I was active. I originally joined via 1-addicts back when I ordered my "Year one of the 1" 128i.

Well, last week I picked up my new M240i and I've been blown away by this car! I was going to order an M2, but when I saw the production pics, I just couldn't come to terms with... you know... the looks. The first time I drove an M240i was at the BMW Performance Center in Thermal. After several timed laps on their autocross track, I knew it was my next car. (I also got 2nd on the podium ) Anyway, I wanted to share a few pics of my 1 & 2 before I part ways with my 128i (Will eventually post for sale here soon)

M240i Impressions:
  • It's waaay bigger than the 1 series. I was really surprised how much larger it is.
  • Thundernight is a glorious color. I can't believe this is a BMW factory option. It really turns heads - even in SoCal!
  • Love the 795M wheels in Ferric Grey. I couldn't find my spec anywhere online and was really worried how this combo would turn out, but I LOVE it! The wheel size does make the car sit very high, but it kinda works out for now as the Perf Front Diffuser also sits high enough to clear most driveways, bumps, etc.
  • I initially wanted Cognac interior but went with Oyster and it was definitely the better color option IMHO
  • It's fast as... (This break-in period is taking forever!)

Great pics, enjoy! That BMW sunshade should fit in the 240. I'm using the one from my E92 coupe. Not a perfect fit but very usable. Looks like BMW doesn't offer one yet for the G42 platform on the website for BMW accessories. I don't think I've seen those wheels yet. They just add to the unicorn status of these cars. They just aren't out there. I've yet to see one in my 3 months of ownership.

Those wheels aren’t a standard option, correct?

Thank you! Yeah I was a little surprised that there weren't more "practical" accessories for the 2 series. The old sunshade is definitely a little small for the M240i.

I live in Los Angeles and I've only seen 3 G42s on the streets here, which is almost unheard of. I've seen far more Rivians and Lucid Airs than 2 series here. Mine is the only TM one I've seen outside of the BMW Performance center!

No, they are a port installed paid option. They can be added to your build sheet with your order.

How much extra, if you don’t mind me asking? And presumably there was some money back for the regular wheels/tires?

They were roughly 5k including the P-Zeros, and no discount on deleting the factory Style 893M wheels

Initially I was going to order the 795Ms from getbmwparts or another vendor but after thinking through it, I had nowhere to store the factory wheels and another set of 893s was already posted for sale here somewhere, which I'm not sure they ever sold. So, I just bit the bullet and ordered them. I'm very happy overall though. They look amazing on TM!

I am considering buying an M240i xDrive and cant find any information on adjustable lumber supports being a standard part of the sports seats. Does your car have adjustable lumber supports?
Also did you consider any other colors? I love Thundernight but am also considering Portimao. Any thoughts on other colors?

I ordered the black sensatec seats, added driver lumbar only for $175. I believe on the leather the lumbar is standard. The one thing we miss is the back bolsters, the sensatec def doesn’t get them, as for the sports seats I guess it’s just like playing lottery, some cars will have it, others no(bolsters).

Yes, I have Lumbar option but it's only on the driver's seat. I have the Oyster Leather seats but I believe this option is available for any seat type. I do wish the bolsters were deeper though. Would've been nice to have the M Sport seats as an option here in the US.
