Hey All,
I have installed the AA Catted DP and Dinan CAI, it sounds great overall but still just a tad too quiet for my taste after having a 2020 Supra before this. I took a photo of the underside while it was lifted and in the US there's nothing between the DP and the Muffler. Has anyone in Arizona or California ever done a custom valved exhaust? What would be the cost of something like that? I have seen what is being done in the UK but I don't think I'd ship an exhaust from there (especially if it's OPF back). |

All you can really do is go straight pipe which will be insanely loud and sounds like garbage, or put in a different muffler.
If bmw comes out with an M perf exhaust it will just be a different muffler. |

So pretty sure there are two twin resonators right under that plate in the middle. If there are then you can do a resonator delete and put in an X-pipe or H-pipe. If there aren't, you can just do the X-pipe or H-pipe. Should give some throatiness to it without sacrificing too much. Plus pretty sure its legal.

Get a catless downpipe for now or wait for a proven company to release their exhausts.
In my opinion, local exhausts in most cases do not sound nearly as good as the proven companies that did their R&D

You should be able to. BMW manufactures most of their models now with resonators so do a resonator delete and then add an x-pipe or h-pipe as extra If you want throatiness.

I always thought the M models, including M lights, didn’t have resonators. The resonators on my 340 were insanely obvious and stuck out like a sore thumb which is making me think those are not resonators in the above pic. |

I assumed the welds are just where the OPF are for the UK, if you watch the auto id video on YouTube that's where they are. Why would an H pipe change the sound if we are coming from a single downpipe? Twin turbo M models have two downpipes and changing how the sound overlaps can change the exhaust note.

The exhaust looks pretty good ,good as in not much restrictions, most cars that you x pipe or h pipe is because there are 2 separate pipes coming off the head of the motor, in are case its one bigger one then splits off I don’t see the benefits of the x pipe seems pointless in this case, maybe if you x pipe it closer to the muffler it would change the exhaust note a little, but if you x pipe it right where it splits now I don’t see it doing much

For those saying a muffler delete on B58 cars sounds bad or too loud, you clearly haven’t tried it. I’ve had it done by a quality local muffler shop in SoCal on my last 6 BMWs, including N55 M235’s, a 2018 N55 M2, and two B58 M240’s (including my current 2019 M240). All have been daily drivers, all have sounded amazing, and all have had very minimal drone. I’ve deleted the resonator (in addition to the muffler) on some and left it in place on others. Res makes about an extra 10-20% difference in volume.
Muffler deletes on naturally aspirated cars for sure sound bad and too loud…but on turbo-6 BMWs sound great. The turbo and downpipe are acting as additional mufflers. I’ve literally removed MPE exhausts and sold them to replace with muffler deletes, and everyone that has heard my car before and after preferred the sound on the delete. |

I just have not heard either in person. A bit scary to pull the trigger on a brand new car without knowing! |

Also, I don't really enjoy raspy exhaust notes. I like deeper smooth tones, but with a bit more noise. I am definitely not knocking downpipes. For my particular preferences, the performance gain is not worth the sound they emit. |
