iDrive died. Now what?
The iDrive/CCC died on my 2007 335i E90.
Dealer wants $8K parts plus $400 labor. What are my options here? Junkyard? Disassemble my self and send it away for repair? Drive in peace and quiet? What have others done? |

CCC is dated so an upgrade to an android unit that will provide CarPlay or Android auto would be how it I would go. There are a number of options out there with some for less the cost of the labor BMW is charging.

Makes me glad I bought a base model without iDrive. Sucks to hear though. What actually broke? I have a feeling one thing broke, but the dealer (as always) will want to replace everything for profits. Can always check with Recyclers. I’m avoiding android headunits and looking at Kenwood or Alpine with car play.
