Other companies like sto n show I'm sure will make one soon enough. Mounts front center under the bumper. Had one on my mustang and it was great. Pops off easy too

I'm familiar with the sto n show, as I nearly bought one for my '08 Bullitt. Good idea. Maybe I'll work something out before my vehicle arrives. I'd prefer to center mount it but in the lower grill area. I did not elect any of the sensor options, so maybe I'll be okay. The more I think about it, I agree, drilling would only be a last option. Thanks for the persuasive suggestion!!

I loved my Sto n Sho on my 2017 M240i. Thing worked amazing and was great quality. That's the route I'll go when I get my next BMW.

My dealer here in Europe uses velcro to mount the plate. Amazon actually has a no drill kit that includes 3" wide velcro for such.

Ended up going with a local guy:

https://www.rho-plate.ca/products/bm...22191389&_ss=r - Canadian Link

https://www.rho-plate.com/products/b...7f97c62f&_ss=r - US Link

Do like so far. I aligned it a bit crooked, but feels good, very adjustable. Also shipped same day.

I had to get the separate leveler from them later on, so the plate sits straight and flush with the bumper.

Hey bud! Have a quick question - I just installed similar drilless brackets, but when only when I've been installing I recognized that there's active grill shutters behind. Could you please let me know if you had any issues since you've been driving with it for a while?

Same question as I just posted above. Also just installed slybrakets but only today recognized that G42 has active shutters behind the grill, so wondering if you experienced any issues with car cooling?

I've read the active shutters are only in the upper kidney grilles. Mounting the plate in front of the lower grille should be fine.

That's what I read as well, but then, when I was installing the plate holder yesterday I recognized that behind the grill there are horizontal shutters as well, so I got confused and decided to reach out to people here

Hmm, confusing indeed. I went off of the multiple posts here about people ordering the sly bracket. I didn't even see anything online mentioning an active lower grille. I already have mine set up and ready for the car to arrive. Not really alarming since I don't really think it would affect anything having a plate mounted in front of the lower grille, but peace of mind down the road might be necessary for me.

Hi All,

New user here. I've read through all the posts and was wondering if anyone had any further opinion on these? I need to get a front plate holder as I've just received plates for my 230i, M Sport front. Has anyone had any issues with sensors at all or other challenges?

US Mill Works looked really good and had a quick release tow hook plate for the previous generation. That would be ideal for quick washes and to avoid wear on the tow hook threads themselves long term. Has anyone used it?

Thanks for any advice you can all provide!

I use this one:

No apparent issues with sensors. Almost 3 months using this mount.

Thanks for that! It was the first one I found and in this list so good to know it works. How long does it take to get off to take it through a wash, or how necessary is that to do if tight to the body?

Easy to take off with the quick removal set up. Have not used in car wash; however, I would absolutely remove it since the outer portion does protrude a bit and may get caught on something. When I wash by hand, I have to be careful around it; got my cleaning sponge caught on it the first time after installing. Learned quickly to be more careful around the mount or remove it.

I see. I would normally go for a touchless wash option, but I got free washes for life with the vehicle and will probably exploit that. I guess the main concern is wear on the threads and time to take it off. I'm not precious about the car. I'd like to keep it beautiful, but at the end of the day, I'll try to save time, too - I mean on washes.
