Oh, it's just a standard service the dealership offers to any buyers. It's nice, but to be honest, the first time I used it, the car wasn't super clean afterwards and I had to do more cleaning. Let's see what happens next time. Looks like the first option I saw here is pretty easy to remove so I may well go for that.

Finally installed the plate. I'm quite happy with it. It does activate the front right sensor occasionally if you don't bend it, but it's only happened after stopping and sitting still without turning off the engine, then starting moving again. Strangely it hasn't happened when I was really parking, though it's only been a few hundred miles.

Edit: So, it activated the sensors quite a lot in the end when I had it installed straight and not flush with the body. I just felt it made more sense to have it that way, but it looks better angled as the plate holder allows it to be done and no longer sets off the sensors. It's a solid product that does what it's supposed to, looks good and from a team with good customer.

Thanks, she's come out alright. I installed the under-door projectors and got a bunch of minor parts (wheel locks, storage stuff, etc.) and I'm quite pleased. Just washed her and I guess I'll leave her like this for the life of the car (I say optimistically).

What storage system/set up do you have? Curious as I am not thrilled about the way I have my trunk storage system. Looking to see other ideas and possible gear.

Hey car looks great. I'm thinking of getting the puddle light projectors. Looks like a super easy install, watched a few guys on YouTube handling it in just minutes. Did you do the install? As far as the plate holder, I have a U.S millworks that I used on my 2015 M235. I doubt the thread is the same but I'd like to check before ordering a new one. The tow hook cover on the 2015 popped out when you pushed on the corner of it. I was trying the same and it didn't want to cooperate on the new car. I didn't want to just pry it out for fear of breaking a tab. I just picked up the car and I'm babying it. LOL How does the cover come out?
Here's my new stormtrooper. Creeping up on 500 miles.

I like your style.

Yes, I installed it myself. All you need is a small flathead screwdriver, it's really almost as easy as the YouTube vids. The only issue I had was the housing that attaches to the cable and sits inside would separate from the plate that attaches to the door, in between which goes the projector and slide. I also pushed it in and it wasn't the easiest thing to get out without tools, but I managed. It's not something you can break and it'll take a few minutes, you might need to insert it and remove it a few times, then rotate the projector to get the right angle. Just be gentle and you won't do any damage, it pops out without much force, but will definitely not fall out by itself.

By the way, I contacted US Mill Works first as I liked their option best and they said it wasn't available. (January 2023)

About storage, I have an expandable box I bought on Amazon for stuff I keep in it, which partially slides into the space on the right, a cargo net and some bungee cords from my last bike, just in case. It's not exactly elegant, but it gives me options for just about anything I'd throw in there and things don't fly around - it's not like I'll see it.

AWcoupe "As far as the plate holder, I have a U.S millworks that I used on my 2015 M235."

I doubt that another bolt will fit as the MY23 240i uses a much longer bolt than previous years.

I had purchased a MY22 version (my original order). When my order flipped to MY23, and the car was finally delivered, the bolt was half the required length. Company was great and sent me a longer bolt for the MY23.

Appreciate the responses, such a great community here. I figured a no go on the Millworks piece. I think I'm going to order the projectors, they are cheap enough and the look is cool. Enjoy your rides!!

The projectors are very cool. The standard BMW logo seemed to have a 3D effect. I switched it out for the 50th anniversary logo. Feel like the M stuff is a stretch on my 230i, but 99% of people wouldn't have any idea what that's all about, I suppose.

Installed the Cravenspeed today, got a semi mild day here in the Northeast. Had a little trouble actually getting the bolt started but all good.

Also picked up the projectors and the carbon fiber doors sills on a gift card from Getbmwparts.com. Those guys are awesome. Not sure I’d drop 250 on sills you see for 5 seconds but as a gift? Why not??

Were you able to use the supplied wrench to tighten the tow hook mount "bolt"?

I hand tightened mine as much as I could. The "bolt" was basically flush with the paint so I couldn't really get the wrench on there without scratching up the paint. It's stayed on after a week so I guess it's okay. I may try a pair of pliers on it at some point.

I have this bracket as well. I could get the wrench to fit, BUT only JUST and I put a piece of felt between the wrench and the car in case. I went very slowly with ~1/8 turns and then reset. Slow, but worked.

Looks like Cravenspeed made the bolt just long enough to peek out of the tow hook hole. I had the same problem as you guys. Hand tight and just a little twist of the wrench for piece of mind snugness. That wrench was basically on the bumper! Wasn't thrilled with that but I don't think this is going anywhere. Happy with plate placement, no issues with parking sensors.

I INITIALLY installed the EOS Plate Version 2 Full Sized Front Bumper Tow Hook License Plate Relocator Mount Bracket Tow-580-V2 nut have since installed the SlyBracket.
  1. The tow hook bolt is long enough, and can be tightened with a 17 MM socket.
  2. There were two 7mm extensions included and you will need to use 1.
  3. The plate mount has many options for how it can be positioned.

I swapped to the EOS tow hook mount for the Sly Bracket for the following reasons:
  1. The tow mount location did trigger the sensors sometime, even after playing with the positioning.
  2. The tow mount has a thick bolt, but it's just a single mounting point for the plate bracket, even with everything torqued really tight, it wasn't difficult to grab the plate and twist it out of position.
  3. To minimize (and almost totally eliminate sensor issues) I mounted the plate bracket far to the left and adjusted it follow the line of the bumper, which placed it pretty close to the bumper. It seems like there is a risk at speed that it may contact the bumper, which would defeat the purpose for going with a no-hole mount.
  4. The screw that mounts the plate bracket to the tow hook bolt is a weak point.

I considered padded tape on the back which may have removed the concern about contact with the bumper, but the issue that the plate can be grabbed and twisted can't be addressed.

The SlyBracket is sufficiently sturdy, well secured and doesn't have any issues with the sensors.

I prefer SlyBracket's no-drill solution to the EOS Tow Hook mount.

If you have adaptive cruise control, SlyBracket may not work, I'm not sure.

NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. (This means you physically checked behind the LOWER GRILLE and your vehicle does NOT have the SHUTTERS)

YES. I MIGHT NEED A CUSTOM MOUNT. (No extra charge. See TIPS and FAQ's on how to measure)"

Thanks!
I've attached a picture of the lower active grille shutters in both open and closed position on my 2022 M240ix.

If you would like to see your lower active shutters in the OPEN position, put the car on MAX A/C and in Sport + and they will be open.

I didn't have calipers to measure precisely, but SlyBrackets has the measurement from the FRONT of the decorative grille to the OPEN position of the lower active shutters @ 3-1/2" and that will work.

MOST fitments will have a couple tenths more to work with between the front of grille to open active shutters.

SOME off-center fitments could potentially be placed in front of the vertical bars that the active shutters pivot open and closed from and 3-1/2" is that measurement.

For those who installed the Sly bracket, did you do the top or bottom slat? how tight should the clamps be? I did finger tight to the point it fully compressed the lock washer.

Does this seem right? It kind of looks and feels flimsy hanging off the plastic grill like it does. I am afraid that over time it could crack or deform the grill slat...any thoughts? I added a couple small pieces of Velcro to keep from marking up the grill if I ever decide to remove

I had to get the separate leveler from them later on, so the plate sits straight and flush with the bumper.

Is that the highest it can be placed?

Best plate holder for 2023 BMW M240i

Hi new here, thanks for having me. Looking for some help finding the best from lic plate holder for my 2023 m240i.
Any model that won’t require drilling the bumper. Tow hook style or clamp on to the bottom grill.
Prefer one that won’t trigger my sensors.
Thanks again for any help, much appreciated.
John
