Although it hasn't been attempted on a G42 yet, it has on be successfully done on other new "G" generation of BMWs, so I'm guessing it is very well possible. Here is an excellent example of the feature fully active on a decoded U.S. spec M340i: https://m.imgur.com/a/mosYRY3 https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=25722934 Also, an explanation on the legality of this feature: |

Thanks for bringing some good news to this thread. I guess we just have to wait until someone offers to be a guinea pig
"..law in place since 1960" That's a shame, but good news that manufacturers are challenging it Last edited by MPR; 04-20-2022 at 06:44 PM.. |

In theory, the software architecture (code, directories, etc.) for the G42 should be the same across the other G series models with iDrive7. My thinking is that recoding the anti-dazzle feature would be copy-paste.
I asked my CA back in February if they could remove the decoding in light of the regulatory change, but unfortunately there is still grey matter on the topic. The US is still miles behind when it comes to anything DOT so it may be a while before we see the technology offered in the states. My hope is that BMW could offer a software update for all cars with the LED adaptive headlights and correct turn signal stalk to enable the feature. Maybe they can find a way to offer it over the air (via wifi) like what Tesla and McLaren currently do. |

That utube is dated and is INCORRECT relative to the present day. As i have said in a previous post here....THEY ARE NOT BANNED IN THE US. (note: as of 2/22/2022) The US regulation was revised/replaced in 2/22/2022 and i provided a specific reference to it....this regulation updated the old regs and allows the matrix Adaptive Driving Beams for the US. Please reread my earlier post, and if interested check out the in depth post i made under the G20 forum that digs into this 111 page NEW regulation regarding headlamps for US vehicles |

As long as you have the adaptive LED headlights, and two buttons (vertically aligned) at the tip of the turn signal stalk, the car should be equipped for it.

I coded my 2021 F150 for this (ford calls them glare free headlights) and I really like them.
They step up and down the intensity of the LEDs and carve out a low beam for oncoming traffic. It really gives you much more visibility. Also as stated above, it is legal now. I had to make a coding change as my truck was built in 2021, but the Canadian F150s had the correct codes that I copied. Hopefully will be something I can do the the 230 once the software is figured out. |

Bimmer-tech.net says they can do it, but it's almost $200

I've read that in other models, the Bimmercode method works, however it is not as tight and crisp as the ProTool method. I just haven't seen anyone do it for our G42 |
