Standard (and sometimes annoying) on UK models.

Through BimmerCode? Where did you get a wired connection from?

Can grab them anywhere! A lot are OBD to Ethernet, then adapt from Ethernet to USB C or Lightning. Significantly faster to code than WiFi or Bluetooth.

Amazon has them and the are less expensive. Why does anyone use the wireless one?

Worth noting that Bimmercode's anti-dazzle decoding is more of a half-measure. It'll give you the main feature with the BDC options flipped, but doesn't toggle everything necessary in KAFAS or FLM. The high-beam assistant/FLA uses the same camera processing system, controlled by the KAFAS unit, as lane-departure warnings, etc., so conceivably this could affect the actual anti-dazzle capabilities.

This is true. I’m currently researching E-Sys and BimmerUtility and might try to give that a go. That should fully enable the option. Will probably make a separate post about that once I can provide some valuable feedback

True. But we would if it was an option.

Just updated to iDrive version 07/2023.53 with the cluster font changes. Noticed the dials change to sport mode when using sprint mode now, and the tacho in the HUD rotates based on steering input.

I re-coded all bimmercode settings. ASS is still fully disabled for me.

I noticed a change when coding this time around for Active Sound Design - You can customize the sounds it makes? I like ASD but hate the fake burbles so turned that off and it sounds great! Not sure if this was always there, or added with a Bimmercode update at some point.

Does the American market G42 have full matrix style LED? The photos above seem to indicate that but I'm still unclear.... I've seen Teslas spell out words with their matrix/dot matrix. Ours can do the full shut down sections of the light with cars passing through the beam?

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any videos or other links that can give the basic explanation of what BimmerCode is and how it works ?

Is BimmerCode a third party system , or is it actually from BMW ?

Is it all through the car's OBD port and a laptop / phone ?

Is there an App / website ?

I understand the basics of what it is - making non-detrimental changes to the cars operating system .

It is an app - not afflicted with BMW. All the code has been already put in place by BMW, the BimmerCode app just allows you to enable/disable certain features that were not previously enabled.

That being said, you are not technically “coding”, just flipping switches so you can’t truly break anything. You can risk bricking the ECUs if there is a power interruption when coding. That would require a tow to the dealer I believe so just ensure the battery doesn’t run out

That's pretty much what I gathered . It's more like access to the master list of settings beyond what you could access through your cars infotainment screens.

Just one more question - can you use a laptop , or does it have to be through a phone ?

Looks like BimmerCode supports Mac and Windows. Just know that licenses don’t transfer between platforms ie: iOS/Android/Windows. You’ll want to pick one and stick with it
