Supra or 240
Hey guys,
I've had this 240 for half a year now. Recently I've begun to wonder if I should've gone with the supra... I had the same debate before I bought 240 and due to various reasons (practicality and newer interior). I was so sure 240 is the better car but now I'm doubting that lol. Can someone ease my mind haha

What is making you think that? Is it the styling or driving experience?
For a daily driver, the 240 is hands down the way to go. Same motor as the Supra and you have AWD when needed, with it being RWD the majority of the time. I daily drove an S2000 for 6 years and I'm not sure I'd do that again. |

If you wanted a pure sports car just for pure driving pleasure, you get the Supra, that's pretty much all it's really good for. If you wanted a practical car for everyday use that you can also have fun with, the 240. It's a real GT. You can drive it like a performance car, or a classy car.
If you got the Supra now, in a year or 2 you may be wondering if you should have kept the 240 and saved the money to get into an M2 instead. |

Depends what you want. I'll give the exterior nod to the Supra and it is the truer sports car of the two. But having just returned from a 600 mile trip in my month old 240, it is a fantastic downsized GT cruiser and DD.
I've heard/read the Supra cockpit is a bit cocoon-like and there is a lot of wind noise, so I doubt it offers the same comfort in return for improved dynamics. |

I think they messed up on the front end design with the O-face.. If that looked better I would have considered it much more. And then there's the cocoon interior.

Not sure how the cocoon interior will impact on a long drive but agreed the 240 is very comfortable

My thoughts.
If this is a second car. Get the supra. Have fun. Pure sports car that will retain its value once bmw ends life on the z4 which I imagine is sooner than later. If this is your primary car or if you want some creature comforts and literally any space to breathe get the m240i. (the supra has less space than my miata) Eirher way, you're going to have a crazy awesome performance vehicle that will make you happy. And bonus, they are both BMW 😉 |

I currently have the Supra since early last year.
Great car to drive, has much more steering feel to it compared to any BMW I have driven and is very fun to drive. However with the UK generally being wet and colder a lot of the time (apart from recent) you can't really use it to its full potential during this sort of time. The car is very comfortable, wind noise is easily sorted with a cheap £10 modification however tyre noise is quite loud on the motorway. Also getting can be a little tricky with the wide and low side sill. But as a daily and a trip across to Europe its been great! Comfortable seating and quality is pretty good, closer to the new 2 series compared to the old one. Or basically on par with the Z4 obviously haha. If you have another daily then the supra may be better but if it's your only car then I would lean towards the M240i. I decided to switch mainly due to the cold weather performance and also i love the new tech inside. Space is also another factor to get more people in the car for short journeys when needed. Having seen some comparison videos they seem very identical in performance and parts. I'm not expecting a huge difference but more of a comfortable and practical daily. Will definitely miss the looks of the Supra. |

I think the Supra looks better in person than it does in print, but I'm not the biggest fan. Get what you like and enjoy it for as long as you can. I barely made it a year with the S4 that is sandwiched between the F80 and the G42.

I owned a Supra for 4 months. I think the supra is a "cooler" car and it gets tons of attention on the roads. They are very rare in my area. But dam it was hard to live with. I am about average height, not fat, and in my early 30s. Getting in and out of that thing was kind of annoying, and its tiny inside.
When I heard about the M240i having the 3.0L, AWD, and nicer interior sounded like the better car for me. But no doubt the supra is more special and real sports car. If I lived somewhere warm it would be a harder pick. |

My biggest issue with the supra is rearview visibility and space. Both are obviously comparably quick with b58 motors - the m240 with xdrive is faster from a dig, and the supra will win from a roll. It's definitely a cool car, but the m240 over the supra was a no brainer for my needs.

Rode in a Supra today - wouldn't want it. Probably didn't help that it had lowering springs and an exhaust you could hear 2 counties away. My wife rode in it too and she liked riding in my son's new BRZ better, but neither compared to riding in the 240 in her opinion.

I shopped both and will be picking up my M240i in a couple weeks. Supra was to claustrophobic and getting in an out was a chore for my 54 year old body. Plus, when needed, I would rather have BMW techs work on my BMW, then Toyota techs work on my BMW.

i also shopped for both. my big deal breakers were the lack of android auto support, the lack of space to put anything anywhere in the car (sunglasses, water bottle, etc), and the lack of visibility (its pretty damn poor).
so i settled on the m240 because its just more practical |
