Negative Effect of Downsizing Tires?
Guys, is there any harm in doing this? I'm just about to pull the plug on a set of Rivals, but they don't have my size, so I gotta go with something slightly smaller.
My OEM tires' OD are around 26" and what I'm about to buy are 25". Offsets are fine. If anything, I'm thinking the overall effect would be similar to having taller final gear ratio, correct? Higher revs for the same actual speed, more wheel torque, etc. Thanks, |

correct, except when your final drive (or rear diff) has a higher numbered gear ratio, it's called "shorter" not taller.
your speedo and odometer will also be off, and you'll have a bit more wheel gap, but your car may accelerate a little faster. |
