Looking for good independent shops that work on diesel's specifically. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Trying to get quotes for walnut blasting. Thanks.

Dang, that is cheap. I had CBU clean up from the dealer back at 78k miles.

I'm at 101k miles now with no major signs of CBU coming back. At this price I might as well have him do some "preventative maintenance" and get new vacuum lines and swirl flap delete all at once.

It's his business. If he wants to bring people in and make them happy for that price, then so be it. There's Indy shops elsewhere charging 700-800. Dealer is 2k+.

I searched everywhere in socal. I could only find one other guy willing to do it for 1300. He hadn't done it before, he had to research what to do, which means he also didn't have the wands or experience with this engine. Sorry, but I'd rather go to a shop that I know at least 2 dozen people have gone to. They know it like the back of their hands now and they do it right. Sure, it was a 2 hour drive, but I saved $2000 - and had extra work done that the dealer would not have done.

Every other shop from San Diego, to Anaheim, to LA, to santa barbara - they all simply refused to even touch this engine. I spent 3 weeks calling places up. Dave was the only one.

Turbo Teds in Costa Mesa works the same way....Not interested in making a lot of money up front, as he wants your business for life. He is the best and most honest mechanic I have ever been to.

I had my CBU blasted, swirl flaps deleted, and EGR blocked off at offset motorwerks up in glendora. Mitchell was great to work with and the poor guy (and his shop) was literally covered in soot when I picked up the car. He asked for $1500 flat for the whole thing.

Thanks Elixis for the tip!
I drove 2 hours to Countdown Motorwerkz this week after making an appointment. They say the service takes 5 hours but I dropped off the car at 9am and it was ready by noon. $499 for the walnut blasting. The swirl flap delete is another $80 but you have to provide the delete kit as they don't have the parts there. Unfortunately I didn't have the parts so I couldn't do the swirl flap delete.

Look up Matt Whitbread and get the swirl flap kit from him. I can help you find someone to do it. Are you in the fb group and if so, how do I find you?

Awesome to hear the price is still holding somewhat. Was the vacuum line replacement included for $499? If so, does that include parts or just labor?
