How to code out E-Diff to turn DTC completely off?
My understanding is that even with an LSD the E-Diff coding remains so DTC can never be turned completely off? How to code out E-Diff intervention for true driftability? Thanks.

Interesting question - I've been wondering myself if this is controlled by coding.
Was your E90 built after 03/2008? If so, send me your DSC module's FSW_PSW.TRC and I'll compare with my 09/2007. Alternatively, try changing your build date to #0907 (but don't write it to CAS or NFRM) and re-code DSC module to defaults (i.e., in Expertmode). See if anything changes and post here if you find any difference between the old and new FSW_PSW files. |

am I being really stupid?
one second press on DTC button gives reduced intervention three second press turns off ESP and DTC completely Do you really need ABS off? When you have done either mode above, what really annoys me is the cruise control is deactivated |

No that´s now what we want. When you have install a LSD you are still not allowed to do a burn out (get your tires worm at the red light ) because the e-brake system are forcing the rear wheels not to spin. Still with the DTC completely off.

another attempt at being stupid (never driven and M car, but do like to think I know a bit about cars)...
for last 10 year only BM's as std with an LSD is M car and of these its not a mechanical one its an electronic LSD ??? most LSD (limited slip) lock up only around 25% any more and the car won't want to turn in to a corner and in high speed corners the back will be unstable/dangerous (130mph big sweeping bends etc.) 30% is deemed silly for road use for above mentioned reasons. If you want 100% then you will crash and or break the diff or drive shafts if you intend to go round corners without the back out every time... I'm shocked if you are saying DTC can't be turned off 100% in an M car, note that this is nothing to do with % lock up on a LSD. I thought that was normal feature for M cars when you go in iDrive and select I can drive options. |

Bump for this, I am dying to figure out how to turn it off.
I found two coding options but do not know what they do, DIFF_LOCK and E84_AX_REF_DIFF_LOCK. Any chances this would do it? |

Ok so I've learned that if you are really pushing it, even with a limited slip diff you will still have abs intervention with DTC completely turned off due to brake disc temps. You need to code out 'brake disc temp too high' for non-intervention (see thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1117725). Anyone know how to code brake temp sensor out? I have all coding software setup on my laptop. Thanks.

there is no way to code out the dtc function.
i am usually drive with dsc completely off - for not pressing the DTC button always for 3 seconds, i developed a ecu which is connected to the canbus. this little module restores every terminal status change the last state of DSC. here a video which shows the functionality... |

I loaded up NCS Dummy and DSC_89.C03 (just randomly, this file may be DSC_84.C0X or DSC_89.C0X depending on your car - you can see this when you CODIERDATEN_LESSEN your DSC module in NSC Expert). Then I scrolled down to see what sort of parameters exist and this one immediately jumped out at me based on the thread you linked. I have a very strong feeling this could be the bastardzied line of code we have been looking for! The only way to verify would be to 1) compare paradoxical3's DSC's TRC file with mine/stock ones and see what values were changed, or 2) just test it out with E89_FLR set to nicht_aktiv. EDIT: I read my car's DSC module and the file is actually MK60_87.C0F for my 2009 335i. The Brake Overheating Reduce Engine Power parameter is slightly different. Instead of aktiv or nicht_aktiv, it has options wert_00 and wert_02 coded into the car. I have attached a picture showing the descriptive values for wert_00 and wert_02 (they are the same effective hex values and descriptions), and a copy of the wert_01. You will see that wert_00 and wert_02 have N54 specific settings whereas wert_01 has no mention of N54. I am honestly unsure what to do from here as my guess is that wert_01 will still have E-Diff coding but set to the other BMW models listed... I've set mine to wert_01 which has a data value of 01, which is coincidentally the same data value used for various nicht_aktiv settings in other Datens. I'm thinking that data value of 01 just corresponds to Zero aka "off/noting" (wert_00 and wert_02 have data values of 00). Last edited by dbworld4k; 09-01-2015 at 11:35 PM.. |

Hey, I actually sent you a PM about this. Do you know what the others were? Was it Diff Lock? Did Alex just set it to wert_01 for the brake overheating code? Please let us know so we can try to solve this BS feature!

It's not a big secret, I am moving this week and have had zero time to dick around on forums or with my car. I do not know the exact values Alex set it to as I couldn't see it on my screen, but when I get some time I will check the values on my car. But I need to set up my new laptop for coding, and it's just a pain in the ass. I will do my best to get it done as soon as I can.
I was under the impression that the brake overheating code was aktiv or inaktiv but I could be wrong. I do know for a fact that it is gone. |

If you have remote coding capability I don't mind letting you VPN in to my laptop and pulling the file for yourself, but I don't think I will have time to set up my laptop for coding this weekend.
I have never used NCS Dummy before, can that work to pull the file without the full BMW Tools, INPA, and NCS Expert installed? That might take less time. |

Downloading it now.
You know what would be really interesting....a lot of new performance cars are using an open diff in the front with a mechanical lsd in the rear. The GTR and new Mclaren come to mind. It stands to reason that on a car like a McLaren, using an e-diff in the front was a decision about performance, not cost - it would be interesting if we could find a way to code it off in the rear only but still have corner braking in the front to help the car rotate better. |
