Hi folks, so I picked up an e90 with a few minor issues, has 97,000 miles. There is a vibration coming from the middle or front of the car when the car is under load especially if going uphill without momentum, mostly at 2000rpm. The violent vibration goes away if I let go of the gas, or if I give it a lot of gas. I'm wondering if it's the transfer case, vanos, or axle/suspension issue. I know I have shot control arm bushings. No 4x4 lights or transmission lights. the OBD at autozone gives me code 5F77 DME error

Check for play in the driveshaft center support bearing. If you know your control arm bushings are bad, replace those first as necessity and then see if the issue continues. At 97k, I doubt your transfercase is bad and maybe the code is caused by worn fluid. Change the fluid & reset oil wear (ISTA+/Good Scan tool) since it's about time.
Can you provide details at what engine speed the code was triggered? Last edited by Suvorovo; 11-04-2022 at 05:30 PM.. |

I'm not sure what speed triggered any lights. The car will sometimes throw a light and start idling rough after hard revs on the highway and I guess goes in "limp" mode since I can't get up to speed. I did buy a good scanner and got some of the following codes and reset them for now.
