my F10 shows english/japanese/korean fine, don't have any chinese songs so I can't tell if mine displays chinese. Combox might have to do with it?

i think it's not "legally" possible in US.
as for the navs/idrives sold in Asia (Korea, for example) they have their own domestic 3rd party firm that re-programs the whole nav and idrive system specifically to that country.
i (my family, rather) have 320i 320d 528i back in korea, and their nav is completely different looking compared to my 335xi. the idrive system looks somewhat similar but the navigation itself is a different system.
-------
but that is my guess
i would ask the dealer for more info.

Call your dealer and ask if they can code it.

Do not spend your time, there are much more than just a reprogramming or coding involved in the process. Special equipment, software and knowledge is required.
Also by adding Asian language to your CIC you absolutely must to use the map of the Asian region (Korean for Korea, Chinese for China, etc.) Your existed North America, European or any other (non-Asian) country map simply will not work.
Dealer will not help you though.
