First Maintenance
So I just dropped my M2 off while it was saying I’m 80 miles overdue for the first maintenance at 1200 miles. I got a 840i as a loaner which, I can’t believe they charge that much for but is besides the point…
They just called me to say the diff oil is back order until at least January and that they will perform the oil change but the car is fine to drive until then. I bought this, it’s not a lease, so I’m trying to do what’s best for the car, and follow the maintenance schedule. Should I be worried about driving the car for another month or two! She said there is nothing to worry about the car will be fine and while will make a note of it. I’m worried some warranty issue will come up and they will tell me I didn’t change the diff oil or some shit and they will screw me. Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

There’s another thread on this. Exactly the same premise… my opinion is still the same: drive normally, don’t worry. Just don’t track it or do burnouts.

You'll be fine. Something similar happened to me when i had the F87 M2C. I bought the car and then COVID immedietly hit so they were only able to do the oil as they hadn't got their shipment of diff fluid in yet. Drove around for about 4 months and when the car finally went in for the fluid change they said the car was fine and no issues. As some have said here, just dont track it and you'll be fine. From what i gather, the fluid change is more preventative than it is mandatory.

Same story here in Phoenix last week, but it only took a few extra days. Loaner was a 530, so it could have been worse. But, what a boring car that was to drive. Cushy, but Man I couldn’t wait to get my car back!

Adding… I was surprised to find a dealer that did not offer loaners The third dealer I called had a waiting list for loaners and they recommended to request the loaner/appointment at least 2 weeks ahead.

I’ll book a loaner if the service is risky (multiple cases of “oh a bolt broke” or “we need to order a part to complete the service”), as you have to schedule one a couple of weeks ahead, as they may not be available on a whim. Once I was going to wait for a service (alignment), but then the dealer had ordered new tie rods. They only realized the new tie rods were the wrong part after they had sawed off mine… so they had a loaner warming up outside for me to drive home. |

I was given and 840 grab coupe and even that is boring to drive. She is telling me they won’t have it until January so I’m returning the loaner today when I go pick mine up.

Well that's everywhere... I thought you were saying there are service types your dealer won't give you a loaner for, since my messages here state that you can get a loaner for any service.

Wait! Do you have to pay for the first maintenance? I thought 3-year maintenance are all inclusive. |
