Thumbs up Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Tim and I purchased my 2011 BMW 355d a few weeks ago. The car has approx 68k on it and last year had the intake cleaned along with the DEF pump and other associated stuff replaced.

Couple of questions..... since I've had many sports cars in the past but never a BMW. Do these run flats typically sound like loud with this much NVH?

Thanks!

Yes. First thing I did was ditch the run flats.
Congrats on your 335d

Yep, they become terrible tires as you put more miles on them. I went with a set of Michelin PSS's and couldnt' be happier.

Ok, thanKs. Appreciate the quick response. Guess I'll start looking for other tires in the future

These are going to be my next set. 98% as good as pilot sports for 1/3 the price. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Welcome.

I have two sets of wheels. One with dedicated summer tires (conti DW) and then my oem's which have winter tires. Just remember that summer tires degrade under cold temperatures and are not designed for freezing use (you will get no traction). So unless your gonna swap seasonally I'd recommend more of a year around tire non rft.

Of course, during warm weather a summer tire performs exceptionally well compared to an all season.

I have, what appears to be, the stock rims with other tires on them for winter. I was curious though about these tires... they are the continenal extremecontact dws06 run flats.... I've never heard tires that sound like this before. Weird.

All in all, I'm very happy with this car. Another complaint is the stereo... it sounds amazing but seems like it should be louder than it is. I want to keep turning the knob up but it doesn't go any louder... is it just me? Yes, I'm getting old but I like to jam out while driving down the beltway

Yeah run flats tend to be a little bumpy. I've seen a few on here that are happy with some, but most run-flats suck.

If you need better audio go with Bavsound. It's completely DIY and will fit perfectly into the oem housing. A stage 1 kit will run $500 which includes tweeters and the pillar up front.

355d?? Dang I want one! Hahaha welcome to the forum! And yes like everyone else says, get rid of the runflats. Your car will drive better without them.

runflats are gone.... lot less noise!

Also was wondering if it's typical of these rims to be peeling like they are? If so, is there anyone local that can fix them? Is it the clearcoat peeling or ???
