Not sure what you're asking here because isn't lumbar support only on the driver's side?

I meant the BMW configurator already shows the passenger lumbar and width adjustment being deleted when the vernasca is optioned driven by the chip shortages.

Hence, I was curious if the Genius was specifically referring to the driver side when he confirmed Lumbar being deleted or if he just confirmed what the online configurator is showing.

Congratulations! I often wondered how and why some vehicles are moving through the production process faster than others. Is it because of larger market areas getting preference over smaller markets?

Here is my UPDATE:

My theory is that when they started the early production cars and were missing parts.. they held those cars off to the side (so to speak) and as the parts came in they kept the production line moving quickly, but are now not making progress on the cars that had been delayed

I see it first hand everyday working in the auto industry and even during normal times, the production launch of a new vehicle at a plant is in itself a daunting task due to various issues with supply chain, last minute engineering changes and software improvements to name a few.

Adding the issues of chip shortages and covid delays with part availability would have made it even worse to have a smooth launch.

The company I work for launched 2 new models last year and it was every bit as challenging. Having said that, it seems to me that the European OEM's struggled more for parts than the domestic OEM's considering they are having to forego a lot of options pretty commonly found on "luxury" cars such as no touch screens for a while on the X SUV's or no powered seats on the new G26 grancoupe. My company had to trim some options but definitely not to the extent of removing powered seats and our production volumes are way higher than BMW.

do you have your VIN number, I believe one of the initial characters refers to the country the car is built

I wonder if this is why some cars have just been in QC and not moving.

The vin says its made in Mexico but idk how accurate the websites are. Yea, idk if its just an excuse or what but he said that the munich factory shut down for a couple weeks and that is why it is experiencing this much of a delay. We were originally told we would get it before Christmas.

I'm not sure how accurate that statement is.

Harald Gottsche, President and CEO of BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosi commented: “Two years after starting operations, our Plant integrates a new model to its production line. This has been possible thanks to the great talent of the team in San Luis Potosi. We are proud to be able to exclusively assemble this vehicle in Mexico for the worldwide market. With the new 2 Series Coupé we will show the enormous capacity existing in this country. I am convinced that this will be the first of many other successful launches”.

I would trust the Vin number process more then a human at the dealership.. they may just want to make you feel better about the delay.

I suspect you could email the BMW Genius corporate and ask for clarification of where your specific car is

Thank you!

I can understand your pain. Hopefully, all of your wait time was between quality check to final assembly.

From my CA:

"My screen shows your vehicle will arrive at the VPC tomorrow and shows no stop sale on it, as of now. Should all goes as planned your vehicle should be here end of the week early next week.

Once the vehicle is at the VPC I will confirm it with you and have a better idea as to when it will arrive at the dealership."

Unfortunately some car salespeople are poorly informed and spew nonsense. One BMW salesman i communicated with about ordering a new M240 had no idea any were made in Mexico. Needless to say i did not order thru that dealership.

Mechman, I'm confused by the link. Are you saying that the start of production to the end of production is 11 months for a G42, 222K, 53CM? How is it then there are others on this forum receiving their vehicles in much less time, like 3 -4 months?

The SOP and EOP in the file refers to the start and end of production dates for the 22MY. Not how long it takes for a car to be produced.
