The OG M2 is not a bad car by any means. An "excellent-handling M235i" is actually a great product concept and obviously has strong appeal. I'm not surprised that a lot of people really like that. An M235i is already a very good/great car, so making it even better clearly gets you something really nice.
In the name of maintaining the integrity of their product hierarchy, BMW M clearly left a lot on the table in 2016. As a true M product, it's lacking. I don't care what Clarkson said 5 years ago. In an ironic twist of fate, emissions regulations forced BMW M to give us the M2 we truly deserved. The M2 Comp saved the F87. |

M2 CS is the name of the car.
BMW M has many levels of trims to differentiate their positioning. e.g.: 1- M3 - Standard M model 3 series. More track focused than a regular 3 series (even an M-lite, by BMW) 2- M3 Competition - Better track performance 3- M3 CS (meant Coupe Sport, now "Competition Sport") - More track focused still, lighter weight, less luxury/features 4- M3 CSL (Coupe/Competition Sport Lightweight)/GTS - Super track focus, fire extinguisher, roll cage, street legal still 5- M4 GT3/GT4 / M2 CS Racing / M8 GTE / M6 GT3 - Racecar. Not street legal. |

There are different schools of thought on the CS. Some, I know of, are: 1. Club Sport (or Clubsport) 2. Coupe Sport 3. Competition Sport In actual fact, BMW classified it as Club Sport For more info, please refer to In case your wondering what CS really stands for... under M2 Discussions board from Artemis https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=25503535
