FS: BMW Auto-dipping E9X Homelink Interior Mirror
Since I have sold my car I don't think I will be back in a E9X anytime soon, so I am looking to sell my auto-dipping Homelink mirror.
Now this mirror is unique and not offered for sale in Australia. BMW have the following mirrors made for their cars:- 1) US and Aust market have 315MHz frequency receivers in their mirrors for the ignition remotes. 2) European market runs 433MHz frequency receivers in their mirrors for the ignition remotes. * The US market Homelink modules located in the mirror only operate within the 288-433MHz range. * The European market Homelink modules located in the mirror 288-434MHz as well as 868MHz. So the problem (and why BMW don't offer it as an option in Australia) is that they don't make a 315MHz mirror with a European Homelink module that works with the Australian garage remotes at 434MhZ. I bought a US mirror and transplanted the latest Euro homelink module in it as per this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1159452 Please note that this mirror has the provision for an alarm with the thin red clown nose at the bottom of it. If you don't have an alarm (which most Australian cars don't) then the clown nose doesn't flash. So this is the ultimate solution for Australian cars as you won't find another mirror like mine anywhere! I am asking $500 for it plus postage. It cost me a lot of money through trial and error (about $800), but I happen to know that most BMW mirrors retail new for close to $1000. Please check that it will work with your remote by looking here: http://www.homelink.com/assets/downl..._ukenglish.pdf Payment by bank transfer or cash on collection. I am located in Tasmania, PM me if interested. Last edited by NBTBRV8; 02-04-2016 at 02:52 AM.. |

Why didn't you just buy a US model then If it works for Aus frequencies? Or is there a difference between left and right hand drive?
Do our cars need the European module? |

The US cars and the Australian cars run 315MhZ ignition remotes. These mirrors with this frequency are only available with a US Homelink module that goes up to 433MhZ. Australian garage remotes run at 433.8MhZ, so Australian remotes won't connect up to the Homelink US module inside the mirror. Conversely all European mirrors are 433MhZ for the ignition remotes, and the Homelink modules go to 434MhZ, so these mirrors won't work in Australia as the ignition remotes are 315MhZ, but they will work with Australian garage remotes. What I did was take a Aus/US mirror and fitted a Euro Homelink module in to it, so it is a hybrid. However I think that there is a difference between E93 and E90\1\2 mirrors, and I am not sure if this mirror will fit in a E93 cab, but it will in a E90 sedan or E91 tourer and E92 coupe. |

As there is no specific part number for the mirror I have as it is a hybrid of AUS/US and Euro internals, if I take the AUS/US part number of 51169174309 (which is the main item, Homelink is just a clip in module within it), RealOEM says it will fit:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=51169174309 1' E88 (11/2006 — 10/2013) 1' E82 (11/2006 — 10/2013) 3' E90 (02/2004 — 09/2008) 3' E90 LCI (07/2007 — 12/2011) 3' E91 (02/2004 — 08/2008) 3' E91 LCI (07/2007 — 05/2012) 3' E92 (05/2005 — 02/2010) 3' E93 (09/2005 — 02/2010) 3' E93 LCI (09/2009 — 10/2013) 5' E39 (07/1995 — 07/2003) 5' E60 (01/2002 — 12/2009) 5' E60 LCI (11/2005 — 12/2009) 5' E61 (10/2004 — 02/2007) 5' E61 LCI (04/2006 — 03/2010) 6' E63 (05/2002 — 07/2010) 6' E63 LCI (04/2006 — 07/2010) 6' E64 (09/2002 — 07/2010) 6' E64 LCI (04/2006 — 07/2010) 7' E65 (02/2000 — 07/2008) 7' E66 (06/2000 — 07/2008) 7' E67 (10/2002 — 06/2008) X3 E83 (02/2003 — 07/2006) X3 E83 LCI (03/2006 — 08/2010) X5 E53 (10/1998 — 09/2006) X6 E72 Hyb (01/2009 — 10/2011) Z4 E89 (01/2008 — 09/2015) So it appears as though it will fit a E93 plus a whole host of other models |

Ok, so now i just need to check that my remote is compatible with the door at home.
Ill have to check this when i get home. Also did you end up getting the backing without the clown nose to work? |

That would be the ultimate way to finish it off though. The US Homelink mirrors are easy to get, the rare part is the Euro Homelink module, so that is what makes it unique. Last edited by NBTBRV8; 02-22-2016 at 03:40 PM.. |

What brand door have you got and what model remote is it? I have a B&D door and the newer 4 button remote wouldn't transmit long enough for the homelink to capture its full frequency. I bought an older 2 button remote off eBay programed it to my door and then used this to program the homelink. It was the remote model listed for B&D in the homelink pdf link above. |
