No Audi sold in the U.S. is FWD.
Not sure where you heard that, I can go on the Audi website and configure a FWD car right now.

IF they could have (or, more accurately, if they were inclined to) offered this powertrain, it would have been available in the G8x, and I'd have put my dislike for the design to the side and ordered one. If it comes to fruition in the next M2, I'll most likely have some thinking to do .

I think this ship has fully left the port though, unfortunately. If you want +400hp, AWD, and 3 pedals; there are no more games left for you on showroom floors. It's used R8, lambo, or an older S4/S5; and that's your world of choices.
Not totally accurate- there's the 991 and 992 Porsche 4S/GTS models that you can get in manual but those are also $100k + except for a few older 991.1 models
Very good point. I should have said "6 user selected forward gears with 3 pedals".

The 7 speed is….not great, at least when compared with their 6 speed box.

And you're right on the price being in different leagues for the 911's, though it would apply just the same with a pre-owned gated R8/Gallardo.

This is a really interesting review, especially considering all the talk of AWD on this string.

Starting at about 7.05 to 9.20 or so.

Bump for any new info?

Really hoping some trim of the new M2 is available with AWD.

This doesn't have to be RWD vs AWD, the M3/4 owners/fans can all get along, right? Something for everyone!

Definitely won't be available at launch. I think it'll be at LCI or not at all.

BMWBLOG: Should BMW Make an All-Wheel Drive M2 xDrive?
Quote:
BMW M has already said that it has no plans to offer xDrive for the M2 but didn’t completely shut the door on the idea just yet. There’s some consideration happening in Munich and Garching but no decision has been made just yet.

Confirmed that next M2 will be mid engine, supercharged, with T tops. Power will delivered via Left Wheel Drive. In addition, the entire windshield will be replaced with a curved screen using the new i9 infotainment system.

Personally I think BMW should only make xdrive (since you can put it in full rwd)

Now manual is a different story]]

I’ve ordered a RWD until an xDrive is announced. If that is never then so be it - but it would be a travesty…

"BMW might be finally making an M2 all-wheel drive. Sources indicate that the company is close to deciding on a BMW M2 xDrive, with favorable odds. The business case allegedly works in its favor, thanks to the high demand for M3 and M4 xDrive models."

This ties in surprisingly well with the increase in power outputs that the M3 and M4 will get in 2024/25

This will definitely happen at some point. With the sales of the xdrive M3/4 they know its a popular choice. I love my M4CX, but will be trading it in on an M2 w/XD when it happens. I just really hope it happens before 2026...
