You should not need to do this.

in ID7 there is a Rear DRL tick box. on my car it was set to on by default

Rear DRLs are on by default in the latest firmware (March 2022 ver) The previous version had a bug that prevented them being turned on. According to a Master Tech I know at BMW the rear DRLs are on permanently and can't be turned off
There is a code n Bimmercode but it doesn't work as there's a firmware bug so get the update to the latest firmware and it will work for you

Are you talking about the actual taillight itself that lights up at night? If so you can code it to stay on in the day on the iDrive. BMW gives you that option. It allows the taillight and low-beams to stay on throughout the day (if you want it).

Yeah I'm not seeing that option in the idrive so perhaps I need a software update like some have mentioned above. Currently I have the box checked in the idrive menu about daytime running lights but it is only turning on the front drls.

Odd cause when I have it checked off it turns on the rear taillights during the day. You can see if BimmerCode has anything for it. But be careful because you need to go through the G20 menu to code the G42, and since the taillights are different, coding could mess up the taillights or the coding could not work at all. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know if it's possible to code the Tyre pressure reading from Bar to PSI? I spent ages looking in the Idrive system

Isn't this under Units? Should be one of the options there. If it's not there then no clue

There are some firmware versions where the rear DRLs work, November 21 firmware the rear DRLs do not work regardless of the setting
This was corrected in the March 2022 firmware upgrade. I don’t know if this was an OTA upgrade yet but mine was done in the Deaerlship after logging a fault with the rear DRLs

I have a US spec M240i. I am trying to get navigation traffic updates working in Europe. I have gotten partial success. In Belgium and the Netherlands it works, but in Germany the traffic updates do not work. I am guessing there is an issue with the FM radio frequency. I changed the following using Bimmercode and selecting the 3-series/M3 connection option (since there is no M2):
Under the Head Unit --> expert mode 3002 --> radio_country=ece

I have tried a number of other things like the country under 3006 Navigation, and a couple other things. The issue is that when you change some of these other settings, the language changes to Spanish. If you try to change the language in the settings of the car, only Spanish, French, and one other appears (English option goes away). The other issue that the traffic updates won't work anyway.

In older posts I found that people were changing the following 3 things, but I am unable to find the last two options:
RADIO_COUNTRY = ECE
FM_DEEMPHASIS = 50us
ANZEIGE_FREQ = nicht_aktiv

Any advice? Thanks.

I've been able to do most of the coding in this thread by selecting "2 series gran coupe". Is there any reason I should go back and do it all again under g20 or 3 series??

Just thinking out loud here. with out going into the expert mode you would need to compare what modules are available to you to code. if there are any differences.

Where is the option to have the car always start up in sport individual? I selected 3 series as my car mode and it connected fine, a lot of settings are there, but the unit controlling drive mode says it's unavailable.

Thank you, I think the issue is my OBD interface and I need an upgraded one. The app says the one I am using cant modify that controller.

Appreciate the feedback, I got the Veepeak so hopefully ill be set. My old adapter was Wifi based which kept on getting interrupted by the phone switching to carplay so having a bluetooth adapter was a "nice to have" anyway.

Edit: Crap... the veepeak isnt on the list of compatible adapters great... So thanks again for the link so I can get in front of that.

If you still have the wifi adaptor just switch your phone to flight mode and then everything will work without interruption, all you need to do is enable wi-fi when you switch to flight mode so your adaptor will still work.
