Thanks Bob. That is my challenge-seaters or turbo 4s. Didn’t know if I was missing 1. I do like that at least BMW keeping the dial

I have. ID7 feels like a evolution of ID6 in my opinion. Menus are easy to get to, it's functional, etc. ID8 is definitely an overhaul. I feel like with some learning it'll be ok but you do lose the physical climate controls. I personally prefer climate, hot keys, and volume to all be physical buttons for muscle memory sakes. Now they want you to use voice control or the screen to change it.

Experienced ID8 in the new i4 which also has a regular gear shift. I don't like this new gearshift design. How do you get that nice feeling of pushing the gear shift to the side to get into sport now?

Fingerprints and fear of scratching the antireflective coating would drive me nuts without physical buttons for climate control. Honda tried to take this approach on their first generation of their console, removed all buttons for climate control and volume knob on the radio. The next year the volume knob showed back up again and everyone was happy.

TBH I hardly Change the temperature, I just set it at 22 on auto all year , you can always just ask it to change the temperature.

I second that. I work in tech and I'm always buying the latest gadgets. That's why I love BMW they are forward thing in terms of tech.

But I much prefer i7 instead of i8. Analog/digital hybrid is better for some things and this oversized touchscreen fad is a reason I dislike Tesla interiors.

i7 all the way

Not quite. My wife has had an RDX for going on 2 years. It has some physical knobs, but the touchpad is maddening. Try changing a station on an imperfect road surface and its anyone's guess where you might click

My preference is very, very strongly towards iD8. Actually I didn't order a 2022 because I wanted the new OS! The software is obviously better; and personally I really like the floating super widescreen display. The lack of physical 1-8 buttons hurts but they're virtual now, and the Virtual Assistant (voice control) seems like another decent workaround.

The lack of a shifter SUCKS but I'm not considering that related to iD8.

I decided to not refuse delivery if it ends up a 2023. I figured I'd get used to id8 and it's the new standard. You never know, it may be considered better than id7 in a year.

Same. That's my thinking as well. But I WILL refuse delivery IF there are any additional features removed. I'm still butt hurt about ACC being removed… but I can live without that

Samesies. I want a fully loaded car except for the M colors on the door cards. Realized I'd hardly use ACC and I can live without it, though I'd buy it if it was available. Due to the circumstances, I wish BMW would provide the ability to add/install ACC later for the same cost as adding the feature in the build, when parts become available.

My order arrives to the dealership tomorrow. Im torn. Aesthetically ID7 is more pleasing, but I typically keep my cars 3-4 years max. Will m240s with ID7 have significantly more depreciation / lower resale value for being the only g42 m240 MY with ID7?

Basing on the survey in the thread, I don't think it will make much of an impact to depreciation. Due to the positive reviews, I suspect this car will be in demand for a number of years. I am all for new tech, just feel ID8 has been rushed in, there is the potential of underlying issues which hasn't cropped to the surface. People are familiar with ID7 and earlier versions, knowing what they are getting. Only time will tell.

Popped into my local dealership this evening as they had a 2 series active tourer with ID 8. Can’t say I like the screen much, somehow the cabin felt a bit sparse and had no character especially as the screens were turned off, just looked like a big black piece of plastic. ID 7 by comparison looked nicer (I already have a 2 series gran coupe so pretty familiar to me) and I preferred the different textures created by having buttons.

My 220i is due to be built w/c 13th June so hoping it sticks to that schedule and comes with the ID 7 setup.

If you are worried about depreciation/resale value, lease it and you have no worries. Obviously if you drive a lot, leasing is not an option then.

Lease program is complete rubbish. Terrible Money factor, RV, and no incentives make for a payment very similar to purchasing.

If it comes to this new BMW interior design or moving on, I hate to say this because the M240i is one fantastic machine but I will have to at least look at the competition.

Aside from arguments about lack of physical controls for stuff like climate, presets, etc. - I have a HUGE problem with the lazy design here. This massive Jumbotron is just sitting on stilts on what is basically an old-school dash design, which was never built to house a big screen like this - hence it's just lazily tacked on and looks like absolute shiite to my eye.

For BMW to pull this off, they need a complete dash redesign that actually integrates this thing into the dash, rather than just sticking it up there like an afterthought. No doubt they will eventually, but to release it like this is just.. bad.

The 2023 Pricing Guide shows 5DF Active Cruise Control as a 995 option. The Ordering Guide includes it too. So it looks like that is back as an option. Wireless Charging shows as a 200 dollar option vice 500 dollars for the 2022.

I'm all for ID8 versus 7. I do think the implementation design is juvenile. And the trend to making the car a video arcade is another distraction from active involvement by the driver in how and where the car is going. Just because the technology is there and it can be done, doesn't make it a smart idea for a vehicle that can turn on a dime and approach top speeds in the upper 100s. But once set I don't change much when I'm in motion. And the natural voice recognition, while not as good as a physical button in my mind, avoids having to dig through menus while driving. But if you have a passenger or two and decide to change the temperature or your passenger wants to turn on their seat heater do you talk over the conversation and talk to ID8, or does the passenger start telling YOUR car what to do? Seems pretty awkward to me. What if you call your system Stella and your wife's name is Bernice? Can you drive and fend off blows at the same time?

I hated iD8 at first, hence why I voted for iD7. But the more videos I see, the more I'm becoming okay with it. Honestly it would kinda suck to get a brand new car that is already outdated, even if iD7 is more intuitive. My CA confirmed I will be getting a 2023 and now I'm fine with it. Plus ACC is back!
