I keep saying it, but I hope more people boycott iD8 vehicle purchases so allocations free up!
Yep, I'm done until BMW integrates the screen into the dash and brings back some buttons. Climate control and presets are a must have.

How often are you adjusting anything to do with the climate control outside of temperature adjustments while you're driving?

I adjust the fan speed and seat heaters a lot. But I'd miss the assignable presets most.

I just hate everything about the new package

Damn idrive 8 is such a step backwards from 7. This looks more like the crappy Merc system. Idrive 7 had the perfect mix of hard buttons and software.

And I also hate the seat toggles being on the door, again like Merc. Ugly buttons you press one time then program into memory and forget they exist. Why do they need to be up next to the door handle you use everyday. Makes absolutely no sense. BMW shouldn't pander Merc drivers who need seat buttons under their nose.

And the drive select button is meh, even worse then the nubbin in my 992 911.

But by far the most offensive change is the lazy design of just sticking a big ugly looking ipad on the dash. Even worse then Mercs poor attempt at the same thing. Idrive 7 integrate the screens in nice sporty bezels and a cluster gauge that reduces glare while having a classic gauge look.

The removal of the programmable buttons is basically a deal breaker for me. I have an EOI on an M2 but iDrive 8 means it will have to be one massive step up as a driver to even consider such a massive step back in interior functionality, style and user experience.

iDrive 8 seems like a lazy, cost savings exercise designed to attract Merc drivers.

Massive step backwards BMW! Shame!

The built in nav already does this, it also placed in the dash cluster and on the hud. It is actually far better than google or apple for Nav display. My testing on the logic so far has been excellent, the voice search isn't as advanced as google for random locations, but if you have an address or a known location, it does fine gettin you there.

I was always a google maps user, but in my M240i the BMW NAV I like far better.

i already know the built in nav does it, thats a no-brainer. i wanted to show multi-screen apple carplay, since thats a glimpse of future carplay showcased during wdcc 22. I am a huge supporter of OEM, don't get me wrong, and i absolutely love BMW choice of color palettes in idrive8. But I am a massive apple fanboy as well.

I know that removing buttons is not the best move, but it looks like some people decided to make a national sport.

A touchscreen button to open the glovebox? Armageddon can't come soon enough!
