idrive oil change interval wrong

i changed my oil 5/10 16k miles and reset the idrive. i checked it today and it says "ok" and i have 7000ml and with a 6/12 due date...wtf. the car has 27k on it now and it hasn't been for any service and i didn't touch it "service wise" since last year. What gives??? is idrive that big of an idiot since oil service is 1 yr or 10k depending on how you drive. why would it just reset itself?

The average CBS interval is around 15,000 miles, not 10k. I've seen it as long as 19k with a lot of highway cruising.

Even though the US time interval for oil is 1 year, both my '07 & '08 are programmed for two years when reset - so if you are doing time based changes, keep your receipts. For awhile last year, BMWNA actually changed it from one to two years (unless under 6k miles per year) but quickly changed it back after numerous complaints - especially since the manual says to change after one year.

And I've noticed that for the first 500~1,000 miles after a change & reset, the miles to the next change is very low. This works itself out after normal driving.
