Lol thats right, just got to get use to how humid it gets over there, we went this past September to Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, Sugar Land, Fresno and Galveston, we just didn't have time for Austin for some reason we didn't think about there until after we got back. I like how I dont see signs of conserving water and how green everything is over there. But what place has the best weather, like the least to get flooded or tornadoes?

Austin is not like either Dallas, or Houston. Austin is central Texas 'hill country', while Dallas is flat. Also, Austin is not nearly as humid as Houston.

The only really bad months in Austin are July and August, it just doesn't cool down. That's a great time for us to visit the in-laws in Toronto!

As far as weather, I like Austin - much more mild winters than Dallas, and no tornadoes, an not nearly as much rain as Houston.

Yeah, like what is a good suburb area or which ones to avoid?
Also I'm always hearing that Texas has good jobs there, any good manufacturing or production plants there?

So is Austin weather similar to California weather? Also how are the people there?

But I do have to say your guys roads and rest stops are probably what I liked
They're more well taken care of unlike here in Central California we have ours all tagged up and run down and our freeways are not the smoothest. ...

Austin has a decent number of tech jobs but I haven't seen much manufacturing. Dallas or Houston may be better options. I wouldn't recommend moving here without something lined up. My only recommendation for where to live is near where you work. Commuting in major cities here is not a pleasant experience. 10-20 miles can take over an hour in some locations around Austin specifically

If you can choose between Austin, DFW, and Houston. Pick Austin. I grew up in San Antonio, went to school in Austin, and now live in Fort Worth. You may also want to consider San Antonio. Weather is similar to Austin, but cost of living is even lower.

Austin has a lot of people from California now because of all the tech companies. My buddy's wife is from the bay area. At first, she wanted to move back, but now she wants to stay.

Weather - Houston gets hit with hurricanes and floods every few years. DFW gets hail, so you better have a garage. DFW is also on the south end of tornado alley. Austin by far has the best weather out of three. Still going to be brutally hot in the summer. Austin's topography means it rarely suffers from a flood, and if it does, it is isolated parts of town.

For where to live in Austin, you first need to find the job. The city is split by a river, so if you work north of the river, you live north of the river, and vice versa.

Once you have the job, make sure you live in a good school district (even if you don't have kids; property value is attached to the school district). Austin ISD is not good. This is a decent guide: https://k12.niche.com/rankings/publi...erall/s/texas/

PM me if you have any specific questions.

Texas is horrible don’t move here it’s 100°+ half the year and under 32° the other half. It’s also really dangerous lots of guns all over the place! Lots of BIG diesel trucks polluting the air too you’ll probably get lung cancer in a year or less! Black smoke everywhere!! There are tons of wild animals we have snakes and HUGE spiders and tons of predators like coyotes. The wild boar infestation is a serious problem too. They will go through neighborhoods in packs and attack people at random. Oh and don’t get me started about those darn republicans!

Trust me, stay in California it’s so much nicer!!!! Really don’t come here please seriously stay there do not come here.

Sadly not yet, still in California. Forgot about this thread, by now Austin is probably the same cost of living as California?
