I know another EGR fault thread

Sorry another thread on EGR valve faults .

Had the issue with the Egr faults and a engine light a few months ago

Replaced for a new ones and did the adaptation procedure on installation.

Engine light no longer comes on.

Been having the Drive-Chain fault flash up recently on cold start ups and the car had felt sluggish in the lower gear changes.
Put this down to maybe the fuel filter which I’ve since changed with a full tank of higher grade fuel, this made no difference.

Have some other EGR faults now and thinking it might be the cooler but unsure,
Anyone have any advice how I should proceed ?

Thanks

Just to be clear have been down to BMW sytner in person and my car isn’t under the recall scheme for the Egr valve, the one I purchased and installed is new from AUTODOC not sure on their return policies if there are any now it’s been on the car for a few months.

For the egr valve always go genuine. I replaced mine with a pattern one (before bmw started doing recalls for it) and got a fault code for the valve not closing fully. I did the adaptation reset correctly too.

Put the original back in and the fault code went away.

Interesting, thanks for the response.
I did go for the wahler brand which is suppose to be the original brand bmw use, how true this is I don’t know.

I would try to remove errors to see if they are permanent or just one off incident.
If they are permanent there should be a warranty for EGR, however, if it has visible mechanical damage due to improper installation this may be difficult.

Didn't your car have the recall for the egr?

I fitted it myself and made sure not to damage anything but will try removing the faults as you suggested.
