Sounds like a good deal of people have a bit buyer remorse with their m240i. I had a tsx 4 cylinder and a honda passport, I’m hoping this car will fill in the gap I needed

I'm sure the honda passport stock runs sub 4 0 to 60 with ease so you might be in the same boat.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's buyers remorse, it's just that its so close to being outstanding we are holding it up to the light a bit too close. It's got a lot of power but if it had just a bit more... It has good brakes but they could be better, suspension is great but its not track focused enough, steering is numb. All of which can/could be corrected but would it be a m240 then? It's so close to vehicles that are focused in one area that we compare it to them and are left disappointed to some extent. If I had to classify the 240 I'd say its the greatest example of a "All-in-one" car out there. It can be a race car, daily driver, highway cruiser, weekend car. But like they say about all-in-one things, they dont do any of them well like things that are focused to their purpose. I'm very happy with it honestly, yes I can find fault in it when I start comparing it things it isn't, but for a "cheap" does it all vehicle it's very impressive.

I have yet to drive mine in auto.

My only disappointment is that I never paid attention to the headlights and ended up with the regular lights, which means my DRL are just a single line and not the much cooler looking curved ones that the Adaptive Full LED lights get.

Funny enough I haven’t noticed it at all. Idrive 8 is a little strange but overall I don’t really care about it. I don’t interact with it all that much. it was the stuff I didn’t even think I’d ever have a problem with.

No, I haven’t yet. I normally just leave it in auto. The car is a lot smarter than me when it comes to what gear I should be in.

I wouldn’t say it sucks and it is extremely rare around me. I think I’ve seen a little over a handful of them in any trim since it came out and I live in a very populated county

It’s not a bad car. It’s just not a sports car. It’s definitely a GT car. I was looking more for a sports car so I’m a little letdown. But I wouldn’t say I regret getting it. I ordered the dinan intake for it so hopefully that will fix what I’m missing.

A dinan intake won't make a "gt" car a "sports" car. Good luck though.

Did you drive one before you bought it? I'm not sure why people think these are sports cars.

A few members here claim suspension work really wakes the car up dynamically. Maybe that will help make the car more to your liking sport-wise.

Honestly, with modern cars, I don't think many have the visceral experience that older cars had. My M240i is tremendously faster and more capable handling-wise than my old MK3 Supra, but I recall that car feeling faster than it had a right to, and just had character that the M240i doesn't have. Bigger, heavier modern cars with safety features and great sound insulation really take away from the feel that old cars used to have. I don't think you're really going to get that in a modern car. Even a modern ND Miata is often stated as having less character than the NA/NB used to have.

Very briefly they’re very uncommon around me. My sales associate said they’re harder to get then a M2 currently.

Pretty sure there is a damptronic version of the B6 struts meant to work with factory EDC. I don't have adaptive suspension so I went with the regular version.

Ps. Bilstein hasn't updated their catalogue to include the G42, but it's been confirmed that struts/coilovers for the G20 3 series fit our cars.

It sounds like you're looking for an M experience without paying the M price. To be honest i think you should have just gotten the M2.

Historically across all manufactures, the performance lite cars have always just had a tad more hp but have generally always just been the same as their economy counterpart. You see this in the Audi S models, BMW M variants, Lexus F-Type, and Toyota TRD to name just a few. Its always been a marketing ploy to make you think you bought a sportier car when in reality its the same economy car as the trim below it, but it just has more power. I think with the 2-series, its especially misleading as many of us grew up with the idea that anything that only has 2-doors is a sports car (or at least a very sporty car) when the reality is the 2-series is just as much an economy car as the 3-series, its just smaller and more compact.
