Best way to describe the vibration, it almost feels like abs is activating. Only happens when I'm coming to a stop, at low speeds. Anyone's else M2 doing this? It's hard to believe that my pads are glazed at just 3500 miles. I've never had to brake very hard.
I had similar symptoms. Shaking progressively gets worse. Service dept said it's the crank dampener. Need to get it checked.

according to a poster here, I don't remember who, since post-pandemic, crankshaft dampeners have been a common failing part.

we shouldn't be experiencing this, especially around 2500 mile mark. so far, there are 3 posters who are experiencing this problem.

Praying the service department puts everything back perfectly, that is my biggest worry.

Do you have an update on this? I haven't noticed any vibration since I made my last post here.

Same. I’m only at 90 miles though so hoping it’s just a temporary issue.

Since I never had this on my G80, I suspect that BMW is using a different material for the M Compound Brake pads on the latest generation cars, in particular on our M2’s. This doesn’t bother me too much as long as I know it’s “normal” for our cars.

Update

Crankshaft damper was not the issue. After having to go to the dealership since my CA could care less that it's been 4 weeks, the bmw rep was there, so he and the foreman took the car out and determined it is most likely brake related.. they assume it's from when the car sat at the port or whatever for an extended amount of time, it built up rust. I literally mentioned this when I turned it over to the service dept 4 weeks ago..

So it certainly seems that the initial tech simply diagnosed problem based off what I was verbally describing and didn't bother checking the most obvious thing first.

Supposedly, rust and warped rotors etc are not covered under warranty, but since I had been waiting 4 weeks to get an answer, they're gonna go ahead and cover it under warranty.

Needless to say, I got a new CA and dealing with the foreman directly. They're replacing all rotors and brakes this week. Should get Fri/Sat.

Appreciate the update. I took my mine over to the dealer yesterday and after 9 hours they told me they cannot perform any warranty claim work due to my car having spacers and a stud conversion kit. And that the foreman thinks it's related to the ABS. Will remove the studs and spacers and bring the car back, and will report back.

Oddly enough, i've experienced the vibration at braking as well. I also am running spacers. Take the spacers off and see what happens.

Please report back. I’m also planning to add them but if it’s adding to the “M2 Squeek Gate” issue I’ll have to rethink it…

Has nothing to do with the spacers. It's been doing it while the car was bone stock. I just recently added the spacer.

I don't have any squeek, just the odd vibration that i've noticed recently. But i'll definitely keep an eye on it. If we are all having this issue and the one thing in common we have are that we are running spacers, it's safe to assume that the spacers are either exasperating the issue or are the cause itself.

My G80 did this squealing too at low speeds. Drove me a bit nuts. Never had this on any of my other M cars. Also had some strange vibrations once or twice but assumed it was the x drive system sorting itself out. I broke the car in carefully, then drove as intended.

Don't think those experiencing this is issue are running spacers. Just took then off 20 minutes ago and the vibration is still there when coming to a stop. Will be taking my car to BMW again and will report back. I'm also filming this entire experience and will be uploading the video on my channel once there is a conclusion.

As previously mentioned - I have had notable brake noise since the day I took delivery on my G87 manual. No vibration, just significant squealing when coming to a stop. I also have a G80Cx and it has had no issues with brake noise - I believe is has the identical brakes as the G87. I know there are many that mentioned squeaky brakes on M cars, but after owning more than 15 M models alone, the G87 is the first time that I have experienced this.

By the way - I have no modifications such as spacers, etc. on either car. Both are still bone stock.

Update: Took my M2 back to the dealer after they told me I would have to remove the spacers and stud conversion kit. Now they are saying I have to remove my aftermarket strut braces and install the oem ones back on or they can't continue witht the claim. Because the strut braces have preload adjustment, it could be the issue. This is most definitely a brake issue!

Sorry to hear they are giving you a hard time.
Any chance you have another dealer local to you?
Maybe try there...

Plot twist: you remove all modifications you made to the car and the brake stops vibrating.

That would something wouldn't it. I was experiencing this issue before installing a single mod, but I don't expect them to believe that.

The ones in my area are both owned by the same company. Would have to drive an hour and a half to the next closest one. The foreman did reach out a few minutes ago asking me if I swapped out the braces. I told him I did and that it made zero diffenrcee. He told me to bring it by tomorrow so we can drive it together. Maybe there's hope? He did see me pull up today with a camera in my hand, so he might want to get this right.
