Idrive 7 no longer shows break wear?

Hello all, first time user of idrive 7 and it seems that bmw no longer shows predictive break change mileage. I used to like looking at this to gauge upcoming maintenance costs. I'm guessing bmw feels that less is more here and prefers to have us go to service to see what's going on?

Please let me know if I'm looking in the wrong place or if there's any work around. Obviously the car is brand new, so not a big deal, but just curious.

Hi

I’m afraid you’re right, it doesn’t show brake wear. I agree I found it useful on my F22 2 Series.

It’s gone on all new BMW models as far as I know. It started to disappear around the same time brake pads were no longer an included maintenance item.

And to be honest, that brake pad CBS system never worked very well for most models. It was simply an algorithm that guessed the brake pad wear. It would then count down to around 3000 miles, then stay there until the sensor was broken by rotor contact around 3mm. Lots of cars would show 3200 miles left until brake service, but really have 50% or more life remaining. You’re much better off inspecting the pads with a small mirror.

Something like a dentist mirror gives you into more places but these days I just use my cell phone camera to snap some shots which I can then zoom to get a good idea while having a beer in the couch
