I've heard the Ipswitch area is nice, but I live south of Boston, so getting to the north end takes a long time, because going up 95 suuucks.

To really have fun I have to drive up to the Canc.
Yeah, 117 would be near the south edge of the first area I mentioned, definitely a nice area. Now I live 10 miles north of Boston and mostly hang out on the North shore. Can't help you too much for roads south of Boston, I don't venture down those parts for the same reason you avoid the north shore.

The canc and NH lakes regions is a great area too, fortunately my wife's family has a lake house up there so I get to drive those roads fairly regularly too.

I also drive up north and absolutely live driving the cascade loop
Thanks! might have to take you up on that! I don't think i've driven the whole cascade loop, but you're right, that general area probably has some good stuff. I really like the roads south of Yakima, but it's trek to get down there. North of Vancouver (BC) also has some incredible roads that are very sparsely trafficked but of course that's a whole other PITA.

I feel like I always try to find stuff off of I 90, but there's just too much traffic if you don't go either north or south a significant amount.

Post in the NW section the next time you're doing the loop! I may try to tag along!

The Merino leather is pretty nice so far. I can't comment on how it will look in a few years worth of use but so far the seats are spectacular.

You no longer have to drive at like 3500 rpm in 6th. It brings the tach down to where it should be and now you get to use the whole thing. The car is rewarding in every sense of the word.
Can you tell me what the RPM's are in 6th gear at 80 mph? Thank you! (This drove me a little nuts in our F80 manual.)

It should be the same as the G80, which IIRC was about 3000 RPM at 85mph.

Not that there's anything better on the Seattle side mind you! I've just been looking for good roads a reasonable distance from where I live and its been a bit of a struggle.
Probably going to Griots next month…

Are you a BMWCCA member?

Maybe you can meet us down there

I'll take a look next time I hit the freeway. It's definitely substantially lower than the F87C.

It’s the same right? Not sure about M2C, but I don’t think they’ve changed it in a while.

Anyway I have paid attention to it and 80mph is 3,000 RPM.

So not improved. Crazy. In 20 years they haven’t added a 7th gear.

Yeah, sad. Porsche has both options 6 and 7. Corvette had a 7 gear option as well for at least 15 years (I had one, it was fantastic). Silly that BMW - especially with them being near the Autobahn, can you imagine driving well over 100 mph in 6th - can't option a 7 speed setup. I'd roll at 1800 rpm at 75 mph in the corvette, just sipping fuel.
