OH..........MY..........GOD!!!

I thought I'd start a new thread on this as I've no doubt it'll cause a bit of interest and there will, over the next few days, be some interesting pictures....my detailer has probably spent as much time taking photo's as on the car I just hope the pictures get better later in the week


Anyway, I made the mistake of going to see my new car half way through the process today and I think I'm officially a crazy and seriously tapped individual for doing this to my brand new car!

I mean, it only had a bumpy paint-job.....now it's turned into Frozen Red!

What I can say is that the bodywork is so smooooooth....you can see the smoothness and it feels incredible - if he can get a shine on it again, it'll be incredible.

To get things rolling, I thought I'd get a couple with my phone today just to give you an idea of what I've gone and done - there'll be much better photo's coming once I get hold of the ones he's taken (and hopefully some good 'after' shots too!) but for now.....

Yes, entirely. Assuming there is still some top coat under all that 'flatness', and I have been assured that 80-90% of the top coat remains, then I can confirm that there is absolutely no orange peel on the bits he has flattened down - it's as smooth as glass

Crazy huh....I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself!

The wet sanding process can actually be a better way of keeping a good amount of clear coat on the car rather than heavy compounding. I've did this twice now to customers cars, once to remove deeper scratches and once to fully wet sand the car. The differance will be incredible and is a finish that this fine car deserves. Looking forward to the finished pics.

Yea my car had orange peel from the factory. I should really wet sand it.

As someone who has no idea on the details of wet sanding i'm assuming its some process to flatten the paint to remove imperfections.

Judging by the pics it has appeared to flatten the paint as such but how do they bring back the colour. Again assuming they won't be spraying it as it's a big and expensive job. I expect they use some type of compound right?

How much did it cost? My paint is awful too.

This is one thing I can't say....it's not cheap but its such a good price for 3+ days work that I promised not to post publicly. Think about the fact that a typical Swissvax approved detailer will charge between £300-500 per day just to machine polish......and I'm not paying that for the wet sanding!

The colour is still there, it's just the sanding marks you can see.
The gloss is brought back and the sanding marks are removed by machine polishing, usually a 2 or 3 stage polish. This is the sort of service a concours winning car will recieve in order to look the best it possibly can.
What wax/sealant are you choosing to put on the car after the detail? Swissvax best of show would be my choice even if it isn't the most durable wax.

Yep, it's getting BoS and this is also the wax I have in my garage for when I need to top it up!

I just need to keep the swirls off it!

I had a training day at KDS Keltec last Sunday, who specializes in wetsanding, some of the techniques are incredible.

3 stage treatment....conditioner, polish, carnubra wax.

Thats the price for looking good. You should know by now that any little niggle or imperfection in a car has to be rectified by Andrew.
